The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Won’t be anywhere near as bad as some people are thinking. You couldn’t really have a better set of circumstances for a good launch with decent availability

Bad economy and no mining.

Super happy with my purchase (6950 XT reference model).
  • I was surprised by the bundled AMD Radeon mouse mat and key cap.
  • The out of the box (stock) settings are shockingly bad, thus, making the hot spot temp. run up to 112C, there is some audible coil whine (expected) and the fans spin up to 2.3k.
  • After playing around and finding a stable under volt setting (still on default fan profile). The hot spot temp. is never in the 100C, the fans do not spin up into the 2k range, it is drawing less power, the coil whine noise has been reduced, and the benchmark scores are just behind the stock benchmark scores.

The bundled mouse mat and key cap is an awesome touch and helps with the premium feel of the package. In saying that I haven't used either, just pretty cool additions. Although I have considered installing the R key cap and changing the colour of that key to Red permanently

We did message about this and it's interesting as it feels like both of ours are in line but shows the challenges of airflow potentially for the card. I believe it's probably to do with the side exhaust nature of the 6950XT reference cooler. As mines is in an NR200 so an ITX build I have vented side panels either side of the GPU and the motherboard doesn't obstruct things on that side.

I've found the reference card completely silent (well pretty much) and in most instances only ramps up to a max of 58% from the fan curve. Max fan speed I've seen is in Cyberpunk at 2100 approximately with a hot spot of 106. I may look into under-volting the card like you have @Major774 but right now I'm happy to stick it out with the stock performance.

Glad to hear you're super happy with your purchase, I certainly am too. The performance I'm getting at 4k is just terrific, I'm just hoping the Reference Cards next time around (7000 series) are available from the get go as I really like them.

Hi,
I have an RX 6900 XT Merc319 (A decent sample - 2.75GHz is no problem). When I compare the values from the RX6950 in MPT with my 6900, there are a lot of differences.

Which frequencies are worth (possible) to overclock with MPT to the values with RX6950?

My MPT values: 6900-XT-MPT

Not many tbh. An increase of FCLK can easily be achieved to or beyond 6950 XT levels with MPT.

You can also adjust the memory voltage, potentially achieving slightly higher memory overclocks, however I'm not convinced its worth the risk.

The main benefit of the 6950 XT over the 6900 XT is the faster memory modules (which do actually account for a performance increase) and the higher out of the box power limits.

In other words it's got "go faster stripes"
