Quick and dirty UV at 1080mv and slight downclock to 2560(-100mhz) core and the card pulls around 240w, down from 320ish, in most games with the exception of Last Epoch(unity game) where it draws around 290 watts but that game is special and my go to for a quick stress test.

Happy with the sound/temps?

Yes 95%. It does have some coil whine but it seems to lessen with the UV and when FPS stay under the 200 fps mark which it does as my monitor is only 144hz. It is not so bad that it annoyes me with my headphone on and I have the PC next to my head so overall not that big of a problem. Absolutely a monster of a GPU and the performance is certainly there! Seems like a solid GPU build quality wise.

I have used Radeon Chill to limit my FPS to just under 144fps. Mine is also at head height and with the side on I can't hear it, once I have some decorating done it will go under the new desk but off the floor slightly. Yes I was surprised how big it was!

Ay I also use Chill when playing Singleplayer or casual titles, it works very well. However, I have found a new bottleneck in my system, my god does it ever end? :P, my 5800X is taking a major beating in BF2042 among other titles(less so). That thing is pegged to 80%+ and temps are getting close to Blender loads . This hobby is an endless pit where wallets go to die in agony heh.

5800x3d is a cheeky upgrade. Flog your existing chip to fund it.

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 6900 XT.

5800x3d is a cheeky upgrade. Flog your existing chip to fund it.
Yeah I thought about it but I'm gonna pass.. the bottleneck is not big enough for me to invest more into a dead platform. I think this will do until Zen 5 launches. In the mean while I think it is time to go over my storage as it is getting quite old and outdated.. I'm still using an old samsung 840 EVO 120gb as a boot drive :P.

I just received my 6950 XT OC Formula. Was using the 6950 XT Sapphire Nitro+ (base model), before taking it back for the cooler running OCF variant…and? Surprisingly not a great overclocker. My base model Nitro was able to OC to 2753MHZ, 1150mv, rock solid, in all games. But because it has the weaker heatsink, it ran about 98-105c even in a highly cooled (Noctua 3000RPM) case. So I bucked up and just got the more expensive OCF. The OCF runs almost nothing at 1150mv. You have to run it at 1200mv to get 2700MHZ. North of that you want to add voltage (+25mv) and that will net you 2770MHZ, max…which is what the Nitro achieved, tops, at just 1200mv. Trouble is? Running at +25mv brings the thermals up to near the Nitro’s, making that big nice cooler pointless. I got the card hoping it would be an excellent undervolter, having a higher power phase, which should lend to greater efficiency. You suppose I got a bumb lottery? I thought all 6950s were essentially upper binned 6900s?

Silicon lottery, however a repaste might improve temps for both GPUs.

Yeah may do with a repaste if I’m to run 1.2v+. Since then, I did find I can push it to 2740MHz @ 1.2. Not sure what changed. It’s no 1150mv but I guess it runs more or less the same temps as the Nitro does at 1150mv so I’ll call it a wash. Anything over 2745 is liable to crash. Basically what I do is find the (seemingly) max stable clock and back off another 5-10MHz. Hasn’t crashed yet but junction will peak to around 101 or 103c, in TimeSpy... About the same as the on the Nitro. I’m gaming both cards are naturally lower, unless I run unlocked frames then they get close to bench temps. I keep everything a locked 60FPS, unless I’m playing Destiny PVP. If I’m PVPing that’s the hottest my cards will ever run.

If you're locking games at 60fps why not just undervolt to achieve a clock speed and temps that you are happy with?

Nine, ten, never buy Nvidia again.

6950XT to replace the 2080Ti Kingpin. After four years it has done well, but sadly FSR in the only game I want to play on it is broken, and thus I have to run it at 1440p on a 75" 4k. Which is less than ideal. Crappy behaviour from AMD, but then I suppose it is still the lesser of two evils.

Free gaming mat. Cool, I need a new one.

The escape key is a nice touch too.

Where did you get that from Andy? I didn’t think the MBA 69xx series cards were that readily available these days.

The good thing about this series is that they sport a thermal pad and not paste which will never need replacing.
