I just received my 6950 XT OC Formula. Was using the 6950 XT Sapphire Nitro+ (base model), before taking it back for the cooler running OCF variant…and? Surprisingly not a great overclocker. My base model Nitro was able to OC to 2753MHZ, 1150mv, rock solid, in all games. But because it has the weaker heatsink, it ran about 98-105c even in a highly cooled (Noctua 3000RPM) case. So I bucked up and just got the more expensive OCF. The OCF runs almost nothing at 1150mv. You have to run it at 1200mv to get 2700MHZ. North of that you want to add voltage (+25mv) and that will net you 2770MHZ, max…which is what the Nitro achieved, tops, at just 1200mv. Trouble is? Running at +25mv brings the thermals up to near the Nitro’s, making that big nice cooler pointless. I got the card hoping it would be an excellent undervolter, having a higher power phase, which should lend to greater efficiency. You suppose I got a bumb lottery? I thought all 6950s were essentially upper binned 6900s?
