Is anyone planning to upgrade again when high end RDNA4 cards are released?
In my case, I'm not sure I will, I think I may upgrade again when the generation after next is released.
Because you don't deserve it.AMD, y u no offer an upgrade program for GPUs
Probably true, I don't really deserve a RX 7900 XT eitherBecause you don't deserve it.
Can you update the motherboard bios to the latest version. Can you also check everything is plumbed in correctly. Do you have all the pcie cables plugged in. What’s your power supply. Bit scatter gun that’s how my brain works.New Sapphire 7900 XTX, connected via HDMI on first boot was fine, into the BIOS and got that set up. Moved the PC to its permanent home and now it will only output on HDMI after clearing CMOS. No HDMI, no DP unless I wipe the BIOS settings and then it will show signs of life. No OS installed yet so def not a driver issue.
Any ideas?
There should be some errors in Windows event viewer in the system section a few mins or less before the black screen happens. I would remove any new programs you have installed recently.Thank you. I will keep an eye on the gpu temp to see if i can find out why the issue keeps happening.
The left side of my brain will say is it a lot faster than the 7900xtx I have. The right side will say ooooohhhhh shiny. Is anyone planning to upgrade again when high end RDNA4 cards are released?

Hi eeii,There should be some errors in Windows event viewer in the system section a few mins or less before the black screen happens. I would remove any new programs you have installed recently.
I have not installed any new programs sorry i missed that part of the message.Hi eeii,
The following errors showed last time:
1. Hypervisor launch failed; Either SVM not present or not enabled in BIOS.
2. The virtualization-based security enablement policy check at phase 0 failed with status: Virtual Secure Mode (VSM) is not initialized. The hypervisor or VSM may not be present or enabled.
3. The previous system shutdown at 19:42:22 on 21/08/2023 was unexpected.
4. The system watchdog timer was triggered.
There were then followed by the usual event 41 and 142
5. The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
6. The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error is caused because the system stopped responding and the hardware watchdog triggered a system reset.
After this there were two more errors:
7. The CTIIO service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.
8. The server {8CFC164F-E2AF73ED4A19} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
I have no idea what this means or if it helps identify any issue.
Smells to me like some motherboard bios setting that changed from default.New Sapphire 7900 XTX, connected via HDMI on first boot was fine, into the BIOS and got that set up. The problem is it could be anything with those symptoms. I’d tempted to send the pc back to overclockers and get them to stress test it on bench to force it to crash. For all we know it could be an unstable overclock.I have not installed any new programs sorry i missed that part of the message.
I had a feeling that would be the case. The errors seem really generic. I will keep an eye on the GPU temp for now and see if this is possibly the culprit before i send it back again as i need it to work from home. Thanks for taking a look at my information. It's really appreciated. The problem is it could be anything with those symptoms. I’d tempted to send the pc back to overclockers and get them to stress test it on bench to force it to crash. XTX seems damn strong in UE5 titles, very gooooooooood7900 XTX doing really well versus the 4090 in this game but the overall performance is poor. Another unoptimised mess of a game.
Planning no, impulse buy? Maybe. Is anyone planning to upgrade again when high end RDNA4 cards are released?

another thing to note from that video is that the 7900XTX is running in a different system to the 4090. The 4090 is paired with a 7800X3D whereas the 7900XTX is paired with a weaker 5900XXTX seems damn strong in UE5 titles, very gooooooooood
