In the process, the cap that was damaged has fallen off in shipping, there apears to be a trace thats been pulled off in the damaged area, fix is doable just waiting on the smd to arrive, grand scheme of things were good
Just throwing this out there to see if anyone has a 7900XT MBA in a vertical orientation?
I'm looking at the thermaltake tower 300 case but seen potential issues using GPU's with vapour chambers in a vertical config due to how the vapour chambers work. I don't want to order the case, transplant the system then find out that the temps are terrible.

I haven't been in the PC gaming world for a while, but what are the AMD drivers like now? Back in 2015 I remember them being, okay at best.
I am thinking of upgrading to a 7900XT.

They're fine, no issues at all from my use.
For me, right now, the driver experience with AMD is no different to owning an Nvidia GPU. I had a 3070 before buying the 7900XT (and a 1070 before that) - it's not a factor that I'd even consider right now.

Sapphire build quality....
I bought an asus 7900xtx in November ‘23 and it’s been used almost daily since and I don’t think I’ve had a single driver related issue or crash.
I’ve not done any messing about either just plug in and play

The only issue I've had with this generation of card and drivers is that with multiple high resolution high refresh rate monitors the GPUs don't seem to clock their memory down causing them to use more power at idle and thus run a bit warmer (enough to stop the fans turning off in my case). But that's only an issue when not doing much, if you're gaming I'm sure it makes no difference. That said for me the problem did go away with a recent driver, not sure if that's the case for everyone though.

@wookiee87 - got around to sorting that cap tonight...
The bottom trace was ripped clean off and the top trace was lose... manage to grab a cap and get the top back on and looking half decent.. then ran a jumper for the bottom missing trace, I scraped away at the mask to check the vias and where they were going so I could test the lines out...
Masked back up so the cap doesn't fall off again as it will if not masked down.
I shall give it a proper test tomorrow!

Many thanks for the update and tackling the damage, not a easy task given how small the componets are, i didnt think the other smd was damaged too, but with the right tools which you have reveals the truth, i'll say it again a HUGE thank you for your help.

The top SMD wasnt damaged at all, I did however take it off to measure it in order to find a suitable replacement. Also because your picture shows the bottom smd pushing up against it I wanted to measure out the line and make sure it looked good, hence the scraped test point above it to allow me to take some measurements. Pretty slammed day today work wise but once I finish up ill throw it in my spare machine and see what she does.
