The SPL without Rangers will be so competative wont it.

52 points. 55 points. 46 points. the difference between top place in the SPL and Aberdeen in the last three seasons.
41 points. 30 points. 39 points. The difference between top place in the SPL and Hearts.

34 points. 32 points. 24 points. The difference between top place in the SPL and Dundee United.

Explain how its competitive for other clubs as it stands anyway? It will make it more competitive for the other 11 teams and less competitive for Celtic.

It will be more competitive for second place you mean? No real difference except being runners up instead of third. No-one remembers second place.

When Rangers won their 9 in a row Celtic were only 2nd twice.

Only once was the lead between Rangers and 2nd place over 10 points!

This wasn't even at the end of Rangers 9 in a row but in the 1994-1995 season.

Yet Rangers are to blame for the demise of scottish football?

I leave that with you.....

Err, yes because they are the ones that started spending money they never had, which forced other clubs to spend money they didnt have to try and remain competitive.

The reason the league is so uncompetitive now is that Rangers spent beyond their means, Celtic spend within their means so they took the hit of not winning as many titles as Rangers but thanks to a prudent board they will now see the benefit of that and Rangers, clubs like Motherwell, Aberdeen and co all spent big money on players they couldnt afford, Gretna and Livvy chased SPL dreams only to go bust.

So yes, Rangers are to blame, for spending what they didnt have and dragging the other teams along with them, and all for what? A few extra cups and leagues and beaten by your old manager in a second rate european final. :p

No-one forced them to spend. They chose to do that themselves. Lets face it St Mirren are only in the black/little in the red thanks to Tesco.

Except they where not liquidated, in Italy the courts take over the club (judicial administration).

Newco fc can claim rangers history just as much as I can claim to be the reincarnation of William Wallace ;).

Wrong - Technically and legally, history dies with the liquidated company, the same as the debts of the company do.

It could be argued that its an intangible asset, but its really a ridiculous notion.

Rangers fans will all say that theres no difference and the history remains, other fans will use it as a rod to beat Rangers with, I personally believe history makes no odds really, what does it matter what you have won in the past, its only glory hunters that care about this kind of thing anyway.

No your right, equally though, whats to stop the other clubs doing the same as Rangers which would be catastrophic for the Scottish economy.

We never owed that much, and would have been okay financially anyway, our debt was only around 1.6m at the start, and 1m when the stadium was sold. It wasnt thanks to Tesco though, it was thanks to the hard work of the directors that did the deal and sorted it all out.

Well there are new financial fair play rules in place for starters. Likewise they could go into liquidation who will come to rescue them? There wasnt exactly a rush for a club with a large fanbase now was their??

And the debt was closer to £2.2 million was it not? And I think tesco had a major part in the deal. Yes the director agree'd to it but they needed tesco to be in for it.

It was 1.6m to start with, there was about 500k in costs with selling the ground, but only around 1m was owed to the bank.

The directors had to get the land zoned for retail, after that Morrisons were going to buy it for around £9m, they managed to create a bidding war and Tesco won out.

It was a fantastic piece of business by the directors but we would have been okay without it, the debt was coming down anyway, while the new stadium lacks much character, the biggest improvement is the training facility, which allows us to have a gold standard quality stamp, which I believe only Celtic also have in the SPL.
