This is getting mad, after reading the plan to axe half the staff to pay the cut wages of the players who potentially hold the most value, I just don't see rangers making it to the end of the season.

If that was the true financial case of the club should't they have been forced into a fire-sale (like Plymouth) instead of doing what I can only describe as doing a pompy. It's like someone knew the wheels would come off the bus, but instead of stopping they tried to reattach them at 50mph and hope the bomb doesn't explode. Especially as there is no way to ensure steven naysmith, for example, can hold any real value if his contract is not really worth the paper its printed on, making the whole episode even more futile.

Shame for football as Rangers owe Dunfermline match day money and now they can't pay their players in full for the month :(. Same problem with pomp that chances are they won't be able to fulfil their fixture list costing other clubs revenue.

you make a good point about the players values.

it's a bit like BPL teams that have 1 or 2 god players but then get relegated and can no longer afford those player's wages.

other BPL teams know that the other team has to sell, therefore offer them not as much as they would have gotten had they stayed up.

if i was offered half my wage, i would choose to leave instead and join a club down south instead who could afford my wage demands.

Yep, it happened over the christmas transfer window with a few champ players too. Maynard was the best example, Bristol were offered 4-5m off Leicester and West Ham (apparently saints were in on this too) but it was rejected on the basis he has a year to go, was a key player and should take a new contract. He rejected and the club were forced to sell for at most 2m after christmas because ultimately his contract isn't worth much in the situation of player value being so volatile.

By playing it this way Rangers are bargaining on investment in the current players to stay afloat, instead of operating like a business that has already failed and needs to be fixed.

The two guys who took leaving the club show this because the core debt comes from a massive wage overspend and they both see that they stand a better chance of playing decent football being a completely free agent now than one with an uncontrollable price tag in a disintegrating club.

Pomp loaning out players with wages they just cannot pay is exactly the same (but I doubt Lawrence wants to tear up a 40k a week contract on good will)

Got to feel for Sone Aluko, guy stumped up his own cash to move from Aberdeen to Rangers last summer.

I don't think Wylde or Celik would be on the big bucks at the club?

What is the BPL?

@mattslaterbbc: Rangers crisis staggers to the Strand http://t.co/m829zZ5f admins argue for £3.6m of #RFC cash. At least 4 others say it's theirs

Wait for it

@mattslaterbbc: Those 4 parties arguing with admins for that £3.6m? Ticketus, HMRC, the players' pension fund &, wait for it, Craig Whyte! #RFC

Unbelievable!
