That did help thanks. I guess my point is with this particular game, I didn't notice half the stuff on this video. Somebody had to point out for me so I guess I didn't really appreciate it which is my thoughts of this technology in general.

When I can get CP on offer that will be a better example no doubt.

Few things worth mentioning:
- we had rasterization for a long while now and we're pretty used to its shortcomings, so unless we have something that really irks us with rasterization, plenty of stuff could go unnoticed, unappreciated and directly to "off" when it comes to RT/PT with the current implementations;
- RT is still mainly used sparsely, so, for instance in Cyberpunk, cars on fire won't cast a shadow leading to the same issues as we have in rasterization, reflections from the inside of the vehicle are not in (all those lights from the dashboard should be seeing in the side windows as they'll act normally as mirrors during the night) and at some point there isn't really a difference between raster and RT other than a huge performance hit. But there are still different reflective surfaces like it has been posted plenty of time, from glass of all sorts, roads, concrete, plastic/metal, etc. Shadows are also decent and the performance hit is less then what I've experience with HFTS ( a form or RT shadows for raster) in WD2. GI is also decent having everything "fitting" just a bit better within the game world.

- if you have a fix time of day, relatively fix lighting and physics, the baking all in can also work quite well. Crysis 3 still looks awesome. :) Or having a proper engine can also still give you good visuals without RT ... up to some point. Plenty to talk about that.

All I want is the original Deus Ex. That was circa 2000/2001 as I recall. Probably DX 8? Could be DX7 though.

That's getting a lot of attention on the remix DC server :)

Edit:

Just noticed the "original", yeah that won't be done. Whatever one is using dx 8/9 is getting done

Was that invisible war? If so, I'm not interested in that. The original was a great game, and the newer ones are better than they're given credit for, but invisible war just didn't do it for me.

A real shame if the original can't be remixed.

Petition to name thread 'OCUK Puddle & Side of car door Appreciation Thread"

2019: Nvidia PR says 'G-Sync Ultimate and VRR mean that whether its 50fps or 70fps, you will still get such a great 4k experience you won't look at the frame rate counter.'

2023: Nvidia PR says '50fps is worthless with RT you need 70fps, you will feel the difference' *no mention of VRR*

2024: Nvidia PR says 'enjoy full frame RT in Star Citizen, Squadron 42 at 50fps/4k on your 5070ti with G-Sync Ultimate 2 and VRR 2, not supported by 40x0 series cards'.

Yeah the OG one was the best. I liked IW also, but nowhere near as much.

Hopefully they find a way of doing the original. Pretty sure they could if they wanted to.

Portal uses a dx7 exe (in the option appears at dx7 hardware level), so someone, at some point, hopefully will remix the original as well.

Can't remember tbh, it may have been. Remix DC here if anyone fancies looking:

But portal is dx 8...

Oh good I can see my reflection before I **** myself.

They should make a new game like alien isolation, but the whole game should take place in a house of mirrors with RT reflections - so you can see your reflection while seeing the alien behind you while watching your reflection watching you **** yourself

No! I am such a wimp with horror games and jump scares, I am fine with films etc but when I am in control I get this stomach churning fear.

I'd love it if they remastered Alien Isolation, Higher res textures, DLSS/DLAA, RT reflections, RTGI, RTAO and RT shadows, It's the perfect game to introduce those RT effects.

RT in TD2 would be incredible, it's already imo the best looking rasterised game overall (maybe tied with Forza Horizon 4). RTAO would probably make the most impact, but reflections could also be decent because they can get a bit pixel-soupy for puddles. Now if only the game wasn't crashing 50 times a day since at least a year ago (after the main team got put on Avatar & Star Wars)... Not really holding my breath though, it was also supposed to get DLSS some time ago but then we heard nothing.
