Big bummer that it isn't available on just the normal ray tracing mode. Oh well, good thing I got a 4080 for £18
Based on my testing, when you're above 60 fps, you either need lightning quick reactions or/and extremely perfect eye sight to be able to pick out the latency and artifact issues.
I've done some prep for tomorrow out of curiosity for a 3080 how performance will improve or decrease using settings you would actually have to use for a playable experience so one ray tracing with balanced dlss and path tracing with dlss performance:
Also got videos recorded and uploading.
EDIT:
And uploaded:
Ray reconstruction isn't much use if the answer is to upgrade to a £1000+ GPU.
so we are OK to acknowledge the flaws and issues with RT in current games now that nvidia have an AI solution
Well, since full no-compromise path tracing probably requires £15k of equipment (10 X A102), "only" £1k is somewhat cheaper ;pRay reconstruction isn't much use if the answer is to upgrade to a £1000+ GPU.

By gimping I assume you mean it lacks the required horsepower to keep up with a much newer architecture
And videos with the driver update and 2.0 up now:Based on my testing, when you're above 60 fps, you either need lightning quick reactions or/and extremely perfect eye sight to be able to pick out the latency and artifact issues.

I was kind of being sarcastic as you know certain people will play the "nvidia gimping" card
Ahh ok, Yeah that crowd... "Why isn't my 6 year old GPU performing exactly like this brand new GPU, OMG Ngreedia gimping GPU's #offended #soylatte #soylife #myfeelings"
TBF though, I wasn't expecting there to be a performance hit based on the previous reviews etc. so there must be something on ada where hardware is providing the boost compared to ampere? Of course, could be an issue maybe that needs a driver update or game patch.
