Great comparison showing how much 2.2+ has improved or rather reduced/eliminated the main con dlss had i.e. ghosting/trailing. I didn't even notice a lot of the ghosting issues they pointed out in cyberpunk i.e. the elevator going up looked really bad with 2.1, guess that is what happens when you need to use 400% zoom and point it out though....

They make a good point too (as I and others have said) with how people don't seem to have an issue with TAA worse ghosting/trailing but when it comes to dlss "zOMG, unusable!!!!!" :o :p

Was it mainly the AMD boys banging on about it by chance? :p

Thing is, I am not a fan of Nvidia the company due to their past business practices. Never liked things like GameWorks. When DLSS 1.0 came out I slated it and rightly so as it was a bit ****. But I do like tech and like to think I am a open minded individual and have to say have been impressed with DLSS 2 and they keep improving it which is great. Not tried AMD’s equivalent yet, so not sure if it is as good or better. But happy to see this tech being focused on. Want to see it be a standard on most if not all new games in the future.

When you make something new, if you want it adopted and accepted by the masses it can’t be as good as or nearly as good as what is already available (aka TAA). It needs to be better than it in almost every way. Nvidia are slowly getting there as they keep improving it. Kudos to them.

If they can keep improving it and it does come out on most games in the future, it will help with 8K monitor adoption. I have been on 4K for like 7 years now. I would not mind going to 8K. But right now there is zero chance of that, we are still trying to tame 4K due to being a moving target as each year new games come out. I am thinking maybe in 2 more gens with MCM GPU’s and more advancement on DLSS we may get there.

I have seen plenty of complaints of TAA in many different game threads, most recently the Days Gone thread. So the idea that TAA is given a free pass for being utter ***** is pure BS. A quick Google on TAA Ghosting brings up many, MANY links where people are complainging about TAA Ghosting.

Like veryone I thought DLSS 1.0 just pure sucked but the recent versions are trully a great tech, though the locked down proprietary nature is a massive problem for adoption. What is it 3 years and ~45 games not including DLSS 1.0? That's why I think FSR is going to end up the standard before long. NOT because it is better but because it is open and easier to implement. DLSS is a better tech overall but the reason it will not be as popular as FSR is because Nvidia keep doing the proprietary ****. Every Time Nvidia do this locked down tech, it catches up eventually and they move to the next "big thing" that is loccked down.

Tesselation overdone
PhysX
G-Sync
RTX
And now DLSS

I also find it very contradictory for someone to proclaim to "love tech" but go on to say "I haven't tried FSR yet". Even though it can be tried for free in DOTA 2 or The RiftBreaker.

Way to go and pick an area where you won't see the benefit of ray traced "reflections"

My pics and these aren't even showing the best areas like DF video above...

Oh people care about RT, they just don't understand what it is or what they are looking at. Their favourite games if not using real time RT will be using pre baked RT.

So so true :(

But thankfully microsoft, sony and developers have done their market research hence why they are adding it to most, if not all future games and even going back to add it to some already released games

May not be a monster jump in grand scheme but hey, Doom already looks gorgepus and this is a nice bit of icing on the cake :)

Need me a 3070!!!

Yup I wasn't expecting it to really make much of a difference tbh nor really be suited for a game of this genre but been pleasantly surprised at what it has achieved so far, especially when you get a bit further in and you're in an all metal/glass like base (the one in my screenshots above).

dont get me wrong, but by this logic, i can make 50 comparions between lowest settings in games and ultra settings in games and you would see barely any differences. would that make you play with lower settings nonetheless? or if your hardware can handle, would you go with the higher settings? this is a bit case of that. maybe rt reflections may not present themselves elsewhere, but clearly, your hardware can handle it so you may as well use it, no? for the doom eternal's case, at least (of course, "handling" is also subjective for some people. some may never want to go below 60,
some only accepts "three digits"... some doesn't like the idea of using dlss/fsr to go lower than native and such... so... a big discussion there)

after all, rdr 2 has tons of unnecessary settings yet some people would go mad if you suggest them to put some settings to low even if its not going to matter "by a lot". but if their hardwar "is up to task" they won't even bother
