The Rumour Mill, who do you want/think your club will sign/sell this summer

Im at a bit of a loss if Liverpool if they sell Kewell or Zenden. Kewell did start to show some form when he was doing the Scouse Samurai last season and Zenden has been in and out due to injury.

Buy Mark Gonzalez & Jermaine Penant and sell Kewell & Zenden. If anything I would say they are a bit weaker if they did that as Kewell has a decent pedigree in the EPL and has proven ability and skills
Like Dtab said Kewell has done very little for 3 years, the only difference last season was that he went from a bad player to an ok player, from what ive seen of Gonzalez he is an excellent player and is a proper winger. Im not sure that we are going to sell Zenden, but even if we did it wouldn't be a big blow, as he's been playing CM (and not very well) and we have plenty of cover on the left (Gonzalez, Garcia, Aurellio and both Riise and Warnock can play LM).

Does Neill play left or right? moving Warnock down the pecking order for LB would be no bad thing either, if Neill can play there.Warnock scares me almost as much as Traore did
He's a RB but can play left back or CB as well.

Kewell was appallingly bad in his first 30 months at Liverpool, complete waste of a shirt (although I don't think it helped that Foollier played him on the right wing). He redeemed himself somewhat in 2006, but overall he has been rubbish during his time at Anfield.

The fact he was begging to be subbed less than 20mins into the biggest game in club football says a lot about him too.

I agree he's done nothing for Liverpool, but to his defence he's had a lot of injuries. He started very well in the first 3 months and was our top scorer at Christmas iirc, then got injured and was terrible up untill last season (which he was ok, but nothing more). I don't think you can blame him too much for comeing off in the CL final, he snapped his groin and had no chance of playing on.

Depends if they are a plc or not. If they are then they may have to announce substantial deals to the stock exchange. iirc a deal can be agreed in principal and then player undergo a medical upto 24 hours after the deadline

So all the rumours could continue until Saturday. :(

Villa sign Petrov.

He's a great player and I wish he was still playing for my club, but when a player wants to go, he's got to go.

You know it!

They didn't toss in Lennon and Thompson for Sweet F.A by any chance did they?....You know, but ONE get TWO Free :p

Gravesen will do well at CP.....He's got more pace than Lennon, mind you a broke down bus has more pace than Lennon......I say Lenny as i see him more as a replacement for for him than Stan ;)

And heres Transfer news for January, expect MON to come in for Balde! :D

Pongolle has joined Recreativo Huelva (Spanish La Liga side) on loan for a year and are also interested in taking Diao  (they obviously haven't seen him play). Mellor has signed for Preston for £500,000 and Kromkamp is expected to join PSV for £2m.
We've also taken Finnish 14 year old super kid Lauri Dalla Valle on trial after he failed to settle in Italy after signing for Inter.

Woodgate (Year Loan) + Huth (£6m) complete moves to Middlesborough
Wow thats a lot of money for Huth.

Looks like no one else for Arsenal then :(, shooting ourselves in the foot really as the squad is to small and also a tad lightweight.

and for Newcastle either...

looks like we are stumped on the defender front....

looks pretty bleak for another striker too, not unless we go for someone like Nugent as backup....well backup/priority

been some talk of Trez going out on loan too, but wont be to us. Viduka been rejected....although money + milner isnt worth it tbh.

maybe just money, and really not that much either. but id rather go for Nugent, at least he could have a future with us.

We will see, :( looks drab

Could mean a deal for Neill more likely i suppose, although i guess Huth is just a replacement for Southgate himself

Just something to add to the Neill talk; in the echo they mention that a player 28 and over with only 1 year on there contract left can buy them self out of there contract, ie they pay there club what they would have recieved in wages over the last year.
I can't imagine that Neill is on anything more than £30k at Blackburn, now that works out at around £1.5m, so i would imagine that Liverpool offered less than the £2m reported. Because of that clause in his contract i would imagine if he wants to leave and Liverpool want him they could quite easily sort something out.

Yes I spotted that on BBC website earlier - could make things interesting for a few good, experienced players at 'lesser' clubs who aren't on megabux wages.

One thing this change in regulations is likely to mean however is that clubs may be a bit more careful in terms of the length of contracts they offer players. I.e, ideally you'd want a player to have a reasonable length of time left on his contract when he hits 28 so that he can't buy himself out.

Take Thierry Henry as an example. Had he not signed a new deal at Arsenal, he would have been in the last year of his contract, aged over 28, and hence would effectively have a buyout clause of ~£4m (I'm assuming he was on about 80k/week in his old deal). I'm sure there's a few clubs would have been happy to stump up the wonga to land him a year ahead of him going on a bosman.
