The Rumour Mill, who do you want/think your club will sign/sell this summer

rubbish dealings for us, Sibierski seems like a panic buy and a couple of injuries in the defence and we will be in trouble, well we are in trouble anyway with our joke of a defence.

Apparently Boro have signed Huth, which makes me think that Chelsea might actually be tiny bit short in terms of depth in the centre of defence (considering the financial resources they have available). If Terry and Carvalho were to get injured/suspended, that would leave only the Cannibal which much experience at centrehalf. I've seen Ferreria fill in there from time to time, but with Johnson having been sold, they need him at RB (I don't rate Geremi there).

Over the course of a gruelling season on 4 fronts, things could take their toll. Maybe they've got some promising youth players to come through, the trouble with Chelsea is that you hardly ever see them, so it's difficult to know exactly how good they might be. Could be another budding john terry or michael duberry waiting in the wings, you never know. Still, it wouldn't suprise me to see Mourinho move for a backup CB in January.

Ironically Arsenal also look to lack a little depth in the wide midfield positions, which is something I NEVER would have thought possible a year ago, before we offloaded Quincy, Pires, Reyes, Smith, Bentley etc. Hleb must be loving it as it pretty much guarentees him a start, and Wenger obviously has a lot of faith in Walcott for this season.

I really can't complain at the deadline day business from Arsenal.

Getting rid of 2 unsettled/whining players (yes, I know they might be good players also) and brining in 2 quality ones + money.

Gallas is exactly what Arsenal needed atm, can cover every position in defense and has huge experience.

Baptista I think will improve the teams strength as he is a big guy, and sometimes Arsenal can get barged off the ball at times.

Cygan for 2M, I can only laugh at that. He's not worth the **** off my shoe.

But the best business of the day obviously from the Hammers. I woke up yesterday morning, turned on SSN and my jaw dropped to the floor. Fantastic signings for West Ham, but I'm just confused why they would opt to go there when Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U (+ others) were all interested in 1 or both.

Smells dodgey to me, but I guess we will find out sooner or later.

What interested about arsenal's dealings was the young brazilian Denilson they signed but I cant seem to find any info on it.

Yeah I've never heard of him (only the guy who was a world record when Betis bought him), don't even know what position he plays.

Denilson according to Football Manager is:
Tenacious midfielder
5' 10'
11st 4lb
18 yrs old
and excellent stats.

:p ;)

another guy said kinda in the Gilberto mould but with more presence and strength or something.

My first post since the transfer deadline dealings.

Firstly, congrats to West Ham for the the signings of Tevez and Mascherano although i very much doubt that Pardew initiated the deals. However, something really stinks about the deals. I just hope that the West Ham fans don't get carried away with things.

Secondly, shame on you Fergie for not getting at least one of them. There was contact on Wednesday between Tevez and Mascherano reps and Man Utd yet, for some reason, no deal was made. Arsenal and Chelsea also had opportunity to get the players. This is leading me to think something really underhand is going on related to these players and MSI.

I feel embarassed to be a United fan by not getting anyone in before the deadline. All were left with is an overpriced midfielder and a keeper on loan that we didn't really need. Why Fergie let 2 keepers go on loan and then bring another one in, i don't know! Fergie seems to think that because were top of the league we don't need any additional players. I'd have been really worried for the season if we hadn't of beaten such teams as Watford, Charlton and Fulham.

Furious!

awesome! :D finest left back in the world for a 30-31 yr old center-half who cries when he doesn't get played where he wants and 5mil :D first bit of good business chelsea have done in years!

That post can be totally reversed (apart from the age bit) from an Arsenal perspective you know.

So Gallas whines about not playing where he wants? Cole, rather than state there is a problem, prefers to go meeting clubs behind his own club's back. Lovely stuff that.

And yes, Cole may be the finest LB in the world but Gallas is definitely one of the finest CBs in the world too, and I think a CB partnership of Toure and Gallas will be absolutely solid. I think Chelsea will miss Gallas immensely on the other hand, and most Chelsea fans I've spoken to are quite annoyed by the deal, stating Gallas is totally underrated and some even think he is a better CB than JT. Which I agree with.

Oh, and I am still not convinced you paid 5m. From a very very reliable source I have, it was closer to 15m.

First bit of good business Arsenal have done in years! ;)

I can't tell you how glad I am to finally be able to fulfill my destiny.
I never really enjoyed my time at Arsenal & it always felt wrong, kind of dirty, to wear a Red shirt.
I always knew that I was too good for them & my spiritual home, in a much nicer part of London, kept calling me relentlessly.
I had hoped that Arsenal's new stadium might of made things a bit better for me there, but it turned out to be just as dull &
lifeless as the old one, only bigger. I won't miss the fans either, they were always dim & bit smelly & knew nothing about football.
There is one I will miss though as we had a special relationship (you know who you are G) but things have been a bit strained
between us lately. I'm hoping that once he sees me in a Blue shirt he will forget our differences, see sense & join me again...

Well I've gone from being slightly concerned with our trasfer activity over the summer to fairly chuffed, in the space of a day. Good stuff.

Gallas gives us the replacement for Sol we needed, a good, versatile defender, and experience, while the Beast gives us a physical presence in midfield, and another of the "can play in several positions" kind of players that Wenger loves.

I saw him a lot at Brentford, he's a pretty decent striker, although he's getting on a bit now. He used to have some real place too before a few niggling injuries slowed him down a bit. He'll score goals in the Championship alright, but I wouldn't expect to get 35+ games a season out of him now:)
I was going to say how I guess that meant Duffy might still get some decent playing time, but they've now gone and signed Bridges too, which could turn out to be a good signing. Definitely bolsters the strikeforce no end.

rofl is that for real?? he's certainly going out of his way to make all the arsenal fans hate him if it is...

Excellent day for Arsenal, we have a quality CB with expirence who can help Toure and Senderos, we have good cover at LB with Clichy, Flamini and Traore (don't rate Hoyte) and now have a big player who can play either Midfield or forward.

Got a bit optimism now about our season. Few things do concern me though. Only 3 wide players, Freddy, Hleb and Rosicky, although I suppose Walcott and V.Persie can play there as well. Also, wasn't Gallas keen on a move abroad? Might not be around for too long :(

On a good note, most Arsenal players who move away always seem to pick up long term injuries, here's hoping :D
