The Ryzen 5 3600 Discussion Thread

No none graphic 4000 CPUs this year according to Gibbo. At least a year for them.
With respect, I doubt AMD are updating UK retailers on the release date for Zen 3 six months in advance. Lisa Su herself said that they will be arriving in 2020 just last month, and AMD's latest roadmap shows Zen 3 as being on course for mid-2020. There's zero chance they're going to release Zen 3-based APUs first either. They're only just getting out the first Zen 2-based ones.

Is there maybe some issue with CPU-Z's clock rate reporting with this latest 1.0.0.4 BIOS? I was under the impression for single core it should have ran at 4000 and not 3600? More importantly, does this mean I have a faulty chip or anything else to try?

I did notice that CPU-Z was reporting 3.36Ghz every no and then for a second, with a 33.6 Multiplier, which is impossible as the multiplier works in 25Mhz increments, so its giving me false readings there...

Your ST is right where it should be, your multi is down a little but not 3.75Ghz like CPU-Z is reporting.

If the scored were all fine i would ignore it, but your MT score at 3500 is down 100 points, then again that's only 3% off what it should be. i wouldn't worry about it.

Edit: 3400, that is down about 5% or 6%.

If you're thinking faulty component, i would look at the Motherboard, not necessarily faulty just Asus fluffing up the BIOS.

Get a cheap used board from FlyBay to test, then resell it... one like mine is probably only £40.

Do AMD normally release the EPYC stuff first, if so Lisa maybe referring to Zen 3 without saying on what platform. It could be Milan before desktop.

Milan production is roadmapped for Q3 2020. I thought desktop comes after EPYC.

Nope, Epyc has been post-desktop so far. First-gen Ryzen was March 2017, Naples was June 2017. Third-gen Ryzen was July last year, Rome was August. And of course there was second-gen in April 2018 that was never used for Epyc.

Thought it was confirmed by Lisa Su at CES that ryzen 4000 would be coming this year and also the roadmap shows 2020 for 7nm+. I'm guessing it will be sept/Oct/Nov as by that time Intel will probably have their new 14nm++++++++ but this time if HT is enabled across the whole line up and with lower pricing they will be quite competitive with 3000 chips albeit with almost double the power consumption so AMD will want to hit back rather than delay till next year.

The zen 2 road map had Rome production at end of Q2 start of Q3 2020 with Ryzen 3000 releasing bang on that in July.

If Vermeer follows the same then we should expect to see the 4000 desktop end of Q3 start of Q4.

Sod it, I am going to flog my 3600x and grab Gibbos 3700x for £259 and move to 4000 when it comes.

Think it's worth setting voltage to like 1.3 then try it in gaming?

Also when trying to set 1usmus plan I could not find power supply idle control or ppc adjustment. Any ideas asus owners?

Just I saw people earlier state 1.275v at 4.4 and even if they have a really good chip, me setting something similar for 4.1 should also be in the ballpark right?

Silicon lottery, mine will not even complete a Cinebench run at 4.15Ghz with anything less than 1.42v, others like @TNA and @RavenXXX2 posted 4K+ Cinbench scores at 4.5Ghz at under 1.4v.

It might be my relitivly cheap motherboard, i don't know, but certainly if i don't pump it full of volts it just doesn't complete the run, i think maybe start with lower volts and it its not stable work your way up if you're nervous about pumping too many volts into it.
