**The Secret World**

Generally hitting savage coast particularly if you are solo requires a bit of a rethink on abilities, particularly passives, you will need some self heal ones and a +heal minor and major talisman. 'Healing sparks' in the fist segment is a good early self heal to get.

I would also check the build section of the OF theres a post called 'Heal like a wolverine' that offers some good advice on survival.

Just found a pretty good site that has builds for the first 60 AP and then futher builds for the zone after Savage Coast. I'll work a build up that si between those 2 before going back to the coast. Got lots of AP in pistols, going to get more in Fists and Assault rifle. None of it will be wasted as I'll go the healer route later anyway.

Picked this up yesterday from my local HMV for £9.99. I put in a couple of hours last night, it seems like fun but I have absolutely no clue about what I'm doing.

For an MMO newbie it seems very complicated. I'll persist and watch a few video guides then maybe I'll feel confident enough to join a group :)

Theres deffo a lot to take in. Mainly because theres so much versatility when it comes to what talent points to spend etc. The quests are also a bit misleading with the map markers or clues. All I can really suggest is using google an awful lot! Ive done it myself and also the secret world official forums have some good info with guides etc.
You can also ask here too :D

Torn between this and Defiance come pay day. Main thing that draws me to this is that it looks a little different from all the other MMO's with some nice innovative features. Does it suffer from SWTOR syndrome in that it's a bit like a single player story in a multiplayer environment? Would be playing on my own so don't have anyone to coop with initially...

Ooh, tough one. They're completely different games. TSW has a fantastic setting and atmosphere, and a great way of doing quests. You can solo it quite happily for a long time, if your character build is good, and it's pretty well populated since it went buy to play. If you're the type of player that like to take your time and enjoy the atmoshpere, it's a must-buy. Fantastic voice acting too and some really good storytelling going on.

Defiance is really good too though, just different :)

Just started this today with someone, only played for about 30min but im wondering if much of the game is going to send me into areas where im playing on my own?
We've added each other as friends, so we can see where each other is, but im just wondering when we'll be able to play the core game together, ive seen Cabals, do we need to be in one for this, or is that just something else? Basically... wheres the coop aspect of the game, im assuming it can be played like this, right?

Team up, right click his/her name and join or go to, forgot exactly.
Solo stuff is usually the main story missions.

What Chris said. Get together at a location, form a group, and head off to pick up and do missions. Only missions that say you'll be entering a solo instance will not take you in together.

Ok, I guess what we happened to be doing was correct then, we'd barely got anywhere and the very first mission we were split up, and then following that was the weapons training type room, which was also split up. So it was a little concerning that we were being separated and only the streets were multiplayer areas. Having gone further, its been better.

I've not done any MMO before, perhaps the closest thing ive done to this is BL1&2, so what to expect from it all is quite new to me. I'd seen videos with people all fighting together, and wondered if perhaps we'd missed something.

Im impressed so far, seems like theres plenty to do. Neither of us was remotely impressed at how the controls work though, and while the 'T' mode feels better at first, having to exit it in order to get the mouse cursor back pretty much ruins it.

Weapons training? Sounds like you're still in the tutorial/learning stages.
Once you hit kingsmouth, thats where you two should begin together at the same stages.

Yeah, thats where we are currently, and when things felt more like i'd expected them to be. We'd only just got started but werent sure whether we were doing something wrong if we werent even playing with each other when we left the initial street area.

Are there any benefits to joining a particular society? The intro videos didnt really imply there was.

Im back with more questions :D
We've just picked up our 1200 bonus points, are there more bonus points picked up as you continue to play the game, or is that it?
I kept mine, but my numpty mate decided he'd waste it on clothing

I'd rather buy one of the DLC mission packs than cosmetic stuff, but i cant understand why they seem to hide them on the store, cos they sure as hell arent easy to find on there! They make so much effort to help you find clothing, but i can only find the missions/issues by searching. Will he be able to buy Issue #5/6 with free bonus points later, or is that a 1-time reward, cos it'll be annoying if he's not bothered about buying those DLCs and we could have extended the game a bit further for free.

Also, why isnt there issues #1-4 on there, have they been incorporated into the full game instead?

Its been decent so far, we've done 38 missions, and its been enjoyable. Is the base game just Kingsmouth, or are there a few equally large & time consuming regions too (not paid DLC).

Thats the only bonus you get, I bought the 1 week 100% AP boost, it was well worth it so I didn't have to play as much after the first week, you get tons of points!
After kingsmouth there's at least Blueridge/another one/egypt/transylvania and I haven't got any further yet.

For free players, those are the only bonus points you get. Subscribers get regular points each month.

Issues 1-4 are already in the game (up to Disappearance of Tyler Freeborn -- the new Egypt one is the first paid one for non-subscribers).

Kingsmouth has three pretty large zones. After that, you head to Egypt, which has two large (and pretty challenging at that point) zones followed by Transylvania's three, which are home to some of the best missions/writing/cutscenes in the game next to Kingsmouth.

Cheers guys, much appreciated.

I had a feeling that was it, i remember reading something about getting those points around the time we bought it (2-3 wk back) and it felt like something that was a 1-off, and a pretty generous one considering you can get a full DLC pack from it.

Not sure what i'll do, seems pointless to buy issue #5/6 if he wont get it, and also annoying wasting it on something to later decide we'll get it.

One thing that really does bother me is that there seems to be no information really, certainly not from the developers, they seem to go out of their way to tell you absolutely nothing. The stuff in the shop has next to no information about it, the site doesnt contain an awful lot of info other than storytelling, i gathered the memberships got free bonus points, but the website doesnt list this under the membership types... its just so very annoying that they've made so little effort to help sell their stuff, to explain what each item is better than simply a item name and how much it costs to buy it.

At least we've got plenty more still to see and do, I read somewhere (not on their website!) that the bonus pts expire after a month, so hopefully i'll remember or decide fairly early soon whether its worth getting the other DLC packs.
