*** The SKY F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

Yeah it was custard boy today and yes he's dull.

At one point Crofty asked him to talk us round a lap and for every corner her just said braking is important here, it's a tricky apex and the exit is really important.

Thought today's show was a bit allover the place, I'm sure they kept misquoting stats then correcting later on. Also croft was repeatedly mis-identifying the drivers throughout the race!

It was awful.

From the 3D analysis where they didn't actually show anything other than a 3D car; the shocking errors with driver identification and the long, drawn out, boring discussion after the race; it was dire.

It took them nearly an hour after the race to show the driver interviews and then they only showed Vettel, Hamilton, Button and PDR.

That never bothers me if I know who they are anyway. They have far far more to look at than me. They have multiple sources of info and someone in their ear as well. I'm sure you would make 10x the mistakes.

I've given sky two races now and the main commentary teams I prefer sky as it has Martin, but for eveything else I prefer the BBC. When sky have the race I will turn it on 5 minutes before the lights and turn it off after the podium. I will watch every thing else on the bbc.

I just prefer Jake and the BBC interviews etc.

You need to remember that what we see is only one of the monitors they can look at in the commentary booth as well as keeping us up to speed on events in the pit lane, looking at the timing screens to see if anyone is slowing or catching. it's not always possible to see at a glance who is who as the monitors are often quite small, sometimes even 14" old TV's stacked on top of each other! At the Indian GP the commentary box didn't even have any windows, never mind look over the circuit itself!

I'm the same, although I hope Sky improve as the season goes on

Definitely Sky's worst faring so far, Damon doesn't work with Simon unless there is someone else with them, they both seem stuck for interesting things to say. Croft was irritating me too with his continuous mistakes.

Georgie is doing my head in now, utterly pointless and as faptastic as Natalie is, her ice-cream comment to Kimi after the race was cringe-worthy, and does Sky's image no favours with driver/team bonding when they should be building relationships up.

The only saving grace for me is I just can't stand Ben Edwards, it's like someone has dosed him up with ecstasy. DC seems a bit excitable this year too.
