The Tesla Thread

My brother is looking at ordering a Model 3 in the next few days. How accurate are the estimated delivery dates? His current car is on lease and going back at the end of March and Tesla's site is currently advertising delivery for March for new orders.

It was wildly inaccurate a few years ago....But I suspect it's better now...

Pot luck based on allocation of the colour combo/model etc that comes off the boats etc....Staff can't really help either as your allocated a car once they know what "stock" is available coming in. I suspect it's probably better now that it was a few years back as there is WAY more cars arriving now on a regular basis.

So, had the 'final test drive' today - completely sold on the M3LR now. It was running V11 of the software too, so got to play with that - I can see why a lot aren't particularly happy with some of the changes but it'll just 'be that way' for me from the start when I get mine, so probably a bit of a blessing in disguise. Anyhow, the instant torque and acceleration just make my M135i feel slow in comparison, even if it isnt.

Really good customer service at Cardiff Tesla, explained I'd reserved a car already - no issue at all with that, he even checked the order was going through ok, showed me all of the detail they see on it, etc. Also didn't have a flag against it showing that it needs retrofit of wireless charging pads and USB, so fingers crossed mine will be ok. He also chased the delivery team for final invoice - which came through by the time I got back from the hour and a half test drive. Payment all submitted and they've already confirmed receipt. Collection Thursday from Bristol. Can't wait.

Ah don’t say that!!? Crap service team then? Maybe I’ll just end up taking it back to Bristol if I get issues.
I’ve been back 5 times to get what should have been a single visit to get some light marks buffed out (on the door and A pillar)

I’ve ended up with:

A respray on the front bumper
2 stage polish and full detail
Replacement charge port and full replacement power cable loom to the battery
Resprayed passenger door and wing
A new wheel cover (they damaged it)
A bonnet respray
A new rear light cluster and charge port cover
A rear quarter respray

Either damage caused by them or replaced under warranty because of issues arising after visiting the service centre. So yeah, go to Bristol.

I was predicted Feb and got the car in December. Anyhow I believe you can choose to skip an allocation if it's too quick. Another option is to watch the inventory closer to the date.

Look at the bright side, there should be less swirls marks:cry:.

Took the god awful numberplate mounts / surrounds off and out my private plate on then "swapped" the aero trims for a set of caps to the wheels underneath.

Wasnt sure on the aeros, bought the car and didn't mind them but decided to whip them off and try the caps. Much prefer them now

So just had the dreaded "due to semiconductor shortage your car may come without front usb and wireless charging" text message. So much for Cardiff saying mine should be fine... has anyone received that text before collection and found that they actually do have the ports and wireless charge pads?

I (as most, if not all Q4 deliveries) had the text.

Mine was picked up (6th December) installed and fully working some other were, some weren't

Those that weren't appear to be booked in late Jan / early Feb for a retro fit

Took the aero covers off mine too, replaced them with cap/wheel nut cover kit from amazon.

I have a kit from Amazon but the official Tesla kit is growing on me. I've not done the swap yet, I assume the aero covers don't fit back on with the centre caps in place and getting the centre caps back out is a wheel off job?

On a slightly different note, I'm getting used to V11 but the 'app draw' not being in alphabetical order is really triggering me.
