The Tesla Thread

Yes they are all season tires, still pretty useless on snow covered roads though.

My utility company doesn't really do a good time of use tariff but they are only just rolling out smart meters so that might change in a few years. It's 15 cents/kWh anyway and I have solar panels with 1:1 net metering that covers about 75% of my annual consumption.

I'm taking mine in for some warranty work to the Leeds dealer tomorrow. I'm getting a curtesy car, however the text message says its only 3rd party and 2.5k excess:eek:. Do you guys normally just take out some additional insurance?

Probably a high excess because it’ll be a model s.

I’ve been in a loaner model s so much my phone pairs to the Bluetooth automatically and my Spotify playlist is still in the car :D

My SR was only £400 with direct line. For context, I was paying £200 for my previous car which was a 11 year old diesel hatch with 110hp so don’t I think the new price was unreasonable given the relative repair costs!

Zero voluntary excess, no claims protection included too.

Directline wouldn't insure me this year, not sure why. I was with them the first year I had the car and nothing's changed address/occupation/claim-wise etc.

Different country obviously but I found the Model 3 really expensive to insure - it cost more to insure than my M850i and almost 3x the cost of insuring the ID.4 I had previously. A bit annoying but nothing I can do about it!

When I had a look at tesla a few years ago they were mega expensive to insure, think 3x the cost of a 911 or M3:eek:. I was surprised that my myself 3 cost me about 3 quid more than my old M3:p (that's about 4-5 bucks for you:p). Don't know why it's so cheap though, maybe it's due to every Tom, dick and harry having one:cry:.

Churchill was around £400 for me, a bit less after cashback. I hear Peugeot insurance is bizarrely cheap.

The whole Peugeot insurance thing sounds and seems really dodgy. Some agents saying you can't insure, others that you can, some saying new isn't ok but second hand is. Only using peugeot dealers to repair but t&c's conflicting and people who have insured saying they will be waving their contracts at them if there is a problem and taking the car wherever they want. All well and good and that price is great but I'm not sure how they will feel if their Tesla is damaged and Peugeot are faffing about with the repair. Things take long enough waiting for Tesla spares but the whole Peugeot "deal" seems to good to work out well. For me insurance isn't just a pay as little as possible thing, this car is worth north of 45k so I think picking carefully is essential.

Personally insured through Admiral which cost me £637 for a M3LR, which means nothing as everyone will get a different quote but I do 20k miles a year, car is on a drive and I live on the south coast. I did unfortunately have an incident where I needed to claim and they were excellent, car was transported back to apollo prestige in Chichester and a had a Zoe lend car, repair took 2 weeks, most of which was spent waiting for Tesla to get them the spare parts.

I wouldn’t mind the cost being higher than my 440i, that’s not an issue (and is to be expected given the higher value and slightly higher performance), but over double the cost seems daft.

It’s not as if I’m living in a dodgy area, the car is parked either in a secure office carpark, or on the driveway, and I’m only doing 8-10k per year.
