The Tesla Thread

Nice Cheshire postcode, starting in March, clean license, 16yr NCD, no business usage, 8000 miles per year. Wife is on the policy, clean license, 10yr NCD. Both of us have had our licenses for over 15 years (I’ll have had mine 20 years in March).

Have you tried admiral? They're still the cheapest for me by far

I’m destined to not have a bumper that isn’t covered in stone chips.

Given it’s been sprayed twice for different things, I’ve been keeping well back on the motorway, trying to avoid driving behind larger vehicles if I can help it…. Until yesterday where a BMW left the main carriageway of the M4, cutting over the shevrons to get in front of me (a HGV was behind me).

I winced as I heard all the stones hitting the front end. Thanks a lot you massive bell

*sigh* I may just wrap it

Anything that can be done to protect the bumper that doesn’t look ****? Maybe a clear vinyl wrap? I’m hopefully putting an order in on an M3P soon and I’m concerned about this too

Wrapping the whole car with 3M vinyl costs £1300 (local guy I trust). Whereas clear PPF for the whole car is 5x that.

I’d consider getting PPF on the front end but then what happens when the rest of it gets sandblasted? I’d regret it.

PPF looks like a great solution. What do you think the cost would be for the front bumper and bonnet? I can’t imagine anywhere else really needing it.

Who knows. I’d recommend the sills too… Tesla know that they’re an issue because they’ll spray them FOC if you complain.

In fact, I know they were recalling some 2020 models for sill damage.

Wing mirrors and potentially the windscreen surround also.

Does anyone have the mud flaps? If so, have they been effective in stopping chips/marks behind the wheels?

They all come with mud flaps and they’re garbage.

Didn't know that, every picture I've looked at online has no mud flaps, and the two down the road don't either.
They don’t show the flaps online but they come as stock like this/

Picked mine up after they changed the cameras so first time I could use cruise had a few phantom braking incidents which was interesting to say The least. Also changed the pollens filters, not too bad of a job really and for 30 quid for filters quite cheap too.
