Just had an email... InstaVolt have raised prices of their chargers to 50p/kWh due to the energy price rises. Oooof.

As long as you have your own Spotify premium sub logged in (so not using Tesla's account that you get to use with Premium Connectivity) you do get a better bitrate, but its not as good as the bitrate/quality you get when using Tidal in the car (using the native Tidal app in the Model 3, not via your phone), especially when downloading the tracks (which are currently stored in the car's internal storage, not USB stick). You get true Hi-Fi quality with Tidal that way (streaming bitrate is lower but still decent) but Spotify's streaming is lower still.

Ouch! So an EV charged up on that charger and assuming 3kW per mile 3 miles per kW consumption means £2.77 for 50 miles compared with £1.60 in an ICE car.

ICE £7.27 for 50 miles.

50 miles in my Toyota hybrid would use just under a gallon of petrol. So < £6.53 at 143.7p/litre I paid at Morrisons a couple days ago. So £2 cheaper than charging at Instavolt.

Eh indeed. Greebo said 50 miles for £1.60 in an ICE, as one litre according the the RAC is~£1.48, making ~£6.72 per gallon. So in order for £1.60 worth of fuel to do 50 miles, then your vehicle would be managing a MPG figure of ~210, 672/160 = 4.2 x 50. My original estimate was 17 off, but I did it quickly in my head. :)

Good to know.

I binned off the Tesla Spotify login ages ago in favour of my own. Picked up one of those eBay gift cards for a year of premium Spotify so I could track my own listening history and sync on other devices.

downloading tidal songs would be a major faff for car use & eats space, although I subscribe to tidal hi-fi I doubt you can reliably stream their Master, or hifi at >1400Kb/s on 4g mobile in a car
I usually re-encode cd's/flac at 256kbs for car use anyway , which is what tidal high/spotify premium are, versus the tesla/bmw 99kb/s standard spotify rate.

Wouldn't call it a major faff - my Tesla is connected to wifi while on the driveway at home. I set specific playlists/albums to download. They then download to the storage in the car. It won't do masters, but will do hifi quality downloads.

To be fair, Spotify Premium in the car sounds quite good (I believe its higher than 99kb/s now in the Tesla), and you'd have to be very fussy/particular/an audiophile to really tell too much of a difference between that and Tidal.
 
Seems the current website delivery estimates of August/September might be a touch pessimistic. My brother ordered a base model in deep blue yesterday, and today had an email stating an estimate of 22nd to 31st March.
