The Tesla Thread

My red M3P will be with me 17/03/22 and was ordered 31/01/22.

Colour seems to make a difference, white seems to currently have the longest lead time, regardless of trim.
It was around the start of last week or the end of the week before everything jumped out to May or further. I think we will see them into 2023 soon.

White with aero wheels is the longest at the moment, showing Nov 22. MYP is showing late-22 so that’s at very high risk of moving to 23.

If the estimate is months out, it typically means they’ve had a cancellation and someone has been offered the car previously allocated to another buyer.

That’s why you can get the base spec in random colours at the drop of a hat and the odd combinations (mostly ones with white interior, which they have less of) rarely move.

See this posted earlier today on the FB group, ouch..

Has anyone else had any issues with TACC 'seemingly randomly' changing its set speed at specific locations?

It happened the other day on the M6 north bound around Birmingham and a little closer to home it happens in the exact same place on the A14 going across the top of Cambridge.

The speed limit symbol doesn't change but I watched the TACC speed cut dramatically on its own for no reason and you have to manually re-set the speed back to 70mph. Obviously when the TACC chops its speed in half, the car engages full regen to slow down which isn't great. This isn't phantom breaking, it isn't detecting an object or freaking out due to a HGV, I've watched the TACC set speed just change on its own with no input from myself.

A couple of google maps pins of where it happened on the A14 and happens in the exact same place every time:

This one it changes from 70 to 40 Girton · Girton, Cambridge CB3 0JN, UK

This one went from 70 to 30! 102 A14 · 102 A14, Milton, Cambridge, UK
It also happens going though this section westbound.

The speed's its dropping to don't really make any sense either and have no bearing on what is going on near the road or the time of day or any other traffic.

Have you got it set to speed limit or relative (think that's the name of the setting), doesnt one set it to the current speed limit, if so could be the cause.

Do you mean the setting which sets the max speed of TACC to either the speed limit or your current speed when you enable it?

If yes, it happens with either option is used, that's mainly what took me so long to post about it as I wanted to see if that made any difference. That section of road is a good 45 mins from me and not somewhere I go frequently but as they say, once is annoying, twice is a co-incidence, three plus is a pattern.

Yes that one, sorry was going off memory. I've got mine set to current, but I've never had it change (although I've not tried crossing a boundary to see if it's that clever).

Has anyone had any issues when using a keyed public charger? I'm trying to use my work one but not having much luck, it's a rolec and I wasn't sure if there were any issues with charging. Someone else charges a leaf with no issues so don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I’ve not had any issues with any AC public chargers, free or otherwise.

By keyed, is it a physical key? I assume you have tried the old turn it off and on again trick?

I know some chargers can be programmed to only charge certain EVs electronically. That said Rolecs are renowned for being bad, particularly the early ones.

The Rolecs we had at my last employer were broken 50% of the time, fortunately there were only around half the number of EV and PHEV users as there were chargers, so I typically managed to get a working one with a bit of re-parking faff.

Rolec were one of the first EV chargers to the market but they’re notoriously unreliable.

Could be a handshake issue … by that I mean it’s not detecting the car correctly. Is it a tethered charger?
