The Tesla Thread

Are those people leasing? It's more complicated if you are going via a 3rd party lease company as they own the car and not you.

I got mine on the app before I even made it to the car after signing for it.

You can get a ring to open/drive a Tesla. I thought it might be a bit much though as I refused to wear a wedding ring...

Driving the latest Battery Electric Vehicles is not a '3rd world' problem.

indeed some things are more important than having to have a phone perpetually glued in your mits/hands -
going for a swim at the beach on Sunday morning ... how do I secure the car - anyway obviously not a problem you've encountered.

I was part of the team that inplemented the JLR activity key on the F Pace for that exact event. Lock key in car secure with the waterpoof wrist band.

Cheers.

My "Tesla" ring is the first ring I've ever worn more than a few minutes and yeah it was weird at first but now I feel something is missing without it. I'm not going to say it's easier than the RFID card but Bluetooth was never that reliable for walking up to the car. Worst case is I have to juggle items between hands or put something down. Oh and you do have to get it close so invariably you see a smudge on the glass panel which may bother some Tesla owners :)

How would secure a conventional car in this incredibly rare situation
different strokes ... put key beneath insole in trainers, you leave, with towel, on the beach;
I don't like the encomberence of a phone when running, but usually depart from house (so a smart lock, without a keypad, wouldn't be convenient either)

smart watch though, would be ok as a solution .. I assume android/apple(... suunto?) supported for tesla ?

Incredibly rare? Erm.... :confused:

Anyway I'll bite- not sure if you're familiar with BMW keys but there's a little button on the back of the key fob next to where the key ring attaches. This detaches key from fob allowing you to leave the fob in the car and attach this tiny key to a wetsuit/pair of shorts or other item of clothing people may wear when undertaking water sports etc.
It's really not very rare.....

It was clearly sarcasm :cry:

Either way... there are bigger issues if you're worrying about securing a credit-card key when you're down the beach, considering most people also have wallets and/or phones.

Still no news from Tesla regarding my rejection. It says on their complaint process they're meant to notify me of the person responsible for the complaint etc, which they've not done... so they aren't even following that process. I don't hold out much hope.

I can't imagine there are many people who find themselves in a position whereby they are heading into the sea with nowhere to put a car key. Given there are what, 30 million cars on the road in the UK how many of them routinely have this issue? Not many - hence, rare.

But either way, my point is that this isn't some uniquely difficult situation that only affects people with a Tesla. I'm sure that people have faced the 'whatever will I do with my car keys whilst I jump into the sea' problem for decades.

This is the emergency key for use when the remote fails. I really wouldn't be leaving the vehicle remote inside the car like that, especially on a car with keyless start.

My mistake. I'm sure every day the average motorist struggles with how to lock the car before jumping into the ocean miles from anywhere with a locker or other secure storage.

it is true my weekly beach swimming need is not in the UK -
no one said it was a tesla problem , the context was 2fa and deprecation of the demographic of dinosaur users who didn't want that or a phone dependency;
at beach, a smart watch would probably now obviate the need for carrying a wallet, so saved by technology.
