The Tesla Thread

Was behind a taycan 4s yesterday. Can confirm they're of similar speed :D . The turbi would be the one to go for to be quicker, but that's crazy money.

Like the etron gt, it's suffering horrendous depreciation. I was very close to ordering the etron last Friday, and if the dealership hadn't of messed me about I would have bought one.
In the end I know I did the right thing, and think I dodged a bullet.

The paticular model I was looking at was £100,000 when new, and I had an offer on the table at £59,000. It was nearly 1yr old and fully loaded, so it had lost £40k already and was thought to drop another £10k after an additional two years. When I looked at the figures and the market in general it wasn't worth it. They are starting to come off PCP/Salary sacrifice/CEOs dumping them after the tax year etc etc and with what the car stands for I can't see them doing very well at all.

Once audi and porsche release a mk2 variant they will be selling for peanuts.

19/20 M3P seem available around the 30k mark now so I’m rather tempted, anything I should know? Originally I wanted to wait for the facelift / heat pump cars to get to that money but I’m getting impatient. In reality I very rarely do long trip so shouldn’t really matter.

The heat pump only really comes into its own on long journeys in the winter.

Maybe build quality as built in USA? Rattles etc? I believe there was some issues with suspension lubrication, but I'd hope that would be resolved on a car that age.

Check it's really a P ofc and not a LR with the software option. Although the LR is a solid choice, but just so you aren't miss-sold.

Collected the Y earlier today. Only had 6 miles on the clock, but with 28% battery I had to nip round the corner to the superchargers.

Haven't been to Manchester in years, but what a place. Absolutely buzzing, had a great day out. I'm sure those of you who live there may have a different take on it, but we loved it.

Certainly a much better shopping center than our crappy one which is all boarded up

We've just been down south for a few days last week and I had the misfortune of going on the m25. Does it always sound like it's going to rattle the car to pieces? I didn't actually get up to 70, but it was pretty unpleasant at lower speeds.

They are replacing all the concrete roads that are left around us. The A11, A14 and A12 all have major rebuilding roadworks on various sections. They’ve just started on a 2ish mile section of the A14 and it’s not due to complete until well in to 2025.

It’s chaos in rush hour with 1 lane contra flows etc. and those roads are not the M25. I’d guess they’ll wait until there is no road left before they do that one!

My M3P is in the MK service centre at the moment, put it in Friday.

Had some horrible noise coming from the suspension at the front, a major creeking sound. So they have replaced the front suspension arms.

They still have the car, it has a leak into the boot which they have not been able to identify yet.

I wasn't expecting suspension problems on a 50k car at only 24k miles. At least it's being done under warranty.

The leaking boot is another thing I just didn't expect on the cost of this car but we will see what they come up with.

Can happen to any manufacturer as it seems they had a bad batch of upper suspension arms and the QC would have been done by the supplier I would have thought. Not sure if the boot leak is related to the rear camera loom but that is also a common warranty fix. Apart from those they haven't exactly been plagued with recalls.

You can now get a new Model 3 performance for £52k from inventory.

I guess the pre-refresh clearance is happening.

Edit: £46k for a long range and £39k for a standard.

Model Y LR has got ~£5k off list currently also.

New inventory SR+ almost down to my 2019 price without an incentive contribution. Very tempting for a LR at ~£45K BUT I can wait and see what happens later this year.

Not an issue I don't think, more of an observation. I've been driving my new Y around town since I collected it, keeping under 60mph so far

Wednesday night charged to 100% - 260 miles showing (I know, take that with a pinch of salt)

Thurs 11m
Fri 11m
Sat 11m
Sun 23.4m
Mon 5.5m

Total 62 Miles

260-62 = 198

Remaining 53 Miles

I seem to be missing 145 miles of range? that seems to be one hell of a drop off? Obviously I don't expect to get anywhere near 260 miles, but I think I should get more than 115 (if that remaining 53 is accurate, which I doubt).

Overnight losses ? Check the ‘parked’ energy use screen. Absolutely shocking power drain on these in my opinion. Sentry mode uses loads too.

I did turn sentry mode on the day I got it, maybe that's why. So far, it's about as efficient as my etron  after having some issues years ago, sentry mode is something I very much want on.

:edit: ok, so reading up on it I didn't realise just how much battery sentry mode uses up. I think I will turn it off at home, as I have the house CCTV system I can use.
