The Tesla Thread

Been with LV for 4 years now - price has been ok - creeping up a little but it's a business cost for Ltd company so not that bothered.

Think it's around £700 for Model Y with business mileage etc. Was around £500 with Model 3 when I had it

ok, so I have made my decision and ordered the Model Y. I've opted for an inventory build, £3k off list price so why not?

I'm going to finance it, which has been accepted already. Had an email from black horse about an hour after I placed the deposit.

The email says Tesla will now ring me to arrange a collection date. Any ideas how long that will take?

I test drove a Model 3 Performance on Saturday last, placed the order Yesterday, Monday, and collecting my inventory build tomorrow.

Considering colleagues are still waiting months with no end in sight to non Tesla alternatives it's pretty amazing.

Discount was pretty cool as well.

Just don’t expect much of a handover at collection. The staff are generally helpful and friendly if you have questions and they make sure you have the app downloaded but It is very much a click and collect experience.

It works for some people very in and out, no sales on accessories or insurance etc. Those that expect the sheet pull off, giant bow, a bunch of flowers for their partner and to be shown where the indicators are will be disappointed.

The car will have anything from 25% to 60% charge but there should be a supercharger close by.

I'm collecting from the trafford centre, so will pop over to the 16 bay chargers to ensure I have plenty to get me home. It's 120 miles so I will almost certainly need to charge.

I'd rather it be a quick handover, and with it being half-term shouldn't be too bad.

I find the car traditional dealer experience pretty cringe although credit where credit is due, they are not as bad as estate agents!

Add a payment card to your account on the Tesla app or you’ll lock yourself out of the supercharger network. It will still charge for the first time but when the payment fails at the end you’ll be locked out until you pay. You probably don’t need to ask how I worked that out

Quick question for you guys. We are visiting legoland/Chessington next week and our journey is from hu17. This puts it at about 250 miles each way. Obviously that makes it a bit tight, so whetes a good place to charge down their (my thinking is on the way so we can have lunch while charging). I know there's some superchargers nearby at Gatwick according to Google but I wasn't sure if they were airport use only.

Newport Pagnell just outside MK would be my choice, also did you mean Heathrow if going to Legoland, or Chessington first?

Thanks, I've already added it so should be ok. I've read your very first charge is free?

No free charges I’m afraid.

Chuck the route in ABRP and set it to tesla only chargers, it’s usually reasonably conservative in terms of its predictions.

South Mimms is normally rammed during the day.

Yea, London is an alien place to me :p . I'll give that site a go. There's one in Wyberton I might use going and coming back. Don't want to fill it too much as I'm sure the superchargers had a rate increase.

They are cheaper than they have been in the last 16 months or so. They have time of use pricing, outside of the evening peak some of them are as low as 39p/kWh.

You can charge at mine but you'll need to bring sleeping bags as I am still too tight to pay a grand for anything other than a granny charger

Collected my Model 3 today, totally love it.

Only had 23% charge when collected and as promised the hand over experience was very uninspiring.

Used a 250 mW supercharger near home and took 30 mins to charge to 90% which was 260 miles, quite a way off the promised 340 mile max range but hey ho.

Handling is amazing as is performance as we know.

Cabin is so futuristic, great place to be.

So glad I chose the blue.

Jealous, wiab I'd gone blue or red. My preference is red then blue, but I had a low budget so went for poor man's white.

mW. That’s a new one :D

What did you have before ? I mean they are fast but would never say they handle amazing. Got a new red one to try soon without a squeaky steering.

Admittedly I had a completely different Volvo S90 T8 which was barge like but I think the Tesla turns in really well and excels in tight corners, visibility helps of course. It does feel like a pocket rocket.
