The Tesla Thread

Well it’s a rental car, it’s going to be ‘red lined’ the moment it leaves the lot and not exactly get the ‘one lady owner’ treatment.

E vision long termer. But I meant the charging and 100%, not sure about the throttle pedal relevance. Anyway it’s still real world example of poor battery durability IMO.

My works car is going back 1st September and I had initially planned on replacing it with another works one.

I've been looking on autotrader, and there's a dealer not far away selling a 2020 model 3 performance in black with FSD for £34,500.

Have to admit to being tempted. Looking at the photos it seems to be the updated model with the black door handles and black alloys.

anything I should know before ringing up?

I wonder if it really has FSD, they all have FSD computer. Oh and FSD doesn't add anything useful in the UK beyond EAP atm (so it's a gamble on the future). EAP add value over AP though, so as long as your not paying extra and it's really FSD then that's not so bad.

Thanks,

I'm starting to notice a lot of sellers have de-chromed the car making it look like a newer model. Need to be careful.

Here's one I had looked at before

People have a habit of wrapping those parts so make sure it genuinely is a ‘2021 model’ which started to be delivered at the very end of 2020.

You can check on the screen that it had a heat pump fitted. Click the ‘additional hardware information’ button on the software screen.

Likewise as above, check it actually has FSD. That will say it has a full self driving computer but you need to look at the line below to confirm it actually has FSD. There are plenty of photos of the screen online that tells you what this looks like on both issues.

Edit: too slow!

I’ve also seen people retrofit the new centre console into an older car.

Need to think carefully about this, not visited the tesla site in a while but looks like the prices have dropped down to what they used to be, and the interest rate has also come down. I'm sure last time I checked the cheapest tesla was £48k with a rate of 7.9%.
Now it's back to around £42k and 4.9%.

Maybe ordering a new one (even through existing inventory knocks a couple of grand off) with the warranty, fresh tyres, latest upgrades etc etc is the right thing to do.

Seems the model Y is actually slightly cheaper a month on PCP than the model 3. I know the mrs prefers the Y as it has a bigger boot.

Mmmmmm

Could someone recommend a decent insurance provider? I'm getting ridiculous quotes back at the minute. Old git, good area, low miles, and it's knocking on a grand lol

Etron GT which is twice the price is £500 in comparison.

I was with =LV= been around the £500-£600 Mark the last few years & was £592 last year

Got the renewal last week and was £799 - called them and they offered £779 - did a comparison website search and have gone with Churchill for £498

Direct Line wanted £761

Admiral webby is atrocious!

It is expensive, but got to remember the performance / repair costs / insurance group of even the RWD / SR+ is very high

Was presently surprised with sub £500 with full protected no claims, legal cover and business use for me the Mrs

The 100k etron GT is half the price though

Does anyone know what Churchill essentials is and how it compares to the main one? Can't see a difference

Just had another look at compare the market. Weirdly by reducing my voluntary excess it lowers the price. There's a sweet spot where £200 makes it cheaper  Going any higher makes it more expensive for some reason.
Always renew 2-3 weeks before. Try adding a 2nd driver and try changing the job description a bit as each one can have an affect. Tesla always had a larger excess anyway from my experience but yeah experiment.
