The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Saw this

The broadcaster has previously assured Flintoff's injuries were not life threatening, and that the accident didn't happen at high speed.
Flintoff, who joined Top Gear in 2019, is reported to have been driving an open-topped, three-wheel Morgan Super 3 car when it flipped and slid along the track.
Both Flintoff and a crew member in the passenger seat were wearing helmets, but they weren't enough to prevent the presenter from suffering injuries.

sounds like his face has scraped along the concrete after rolling. Ouch.

I think it's halting because he's thinking of quitting:

“Freddie has been seriously emotionally and physically affected by the crash,” a source told The Times. “He is a daredevil, that’s what he does, and he doesn’t feel like he is able to continue to play that role on the show.”

If you heard the stig interview on r4 he said in his day Hammond had been responsible for one of his accidemts, implying presenters didn't know their limitations,
also that maybe this would be used by bbc as a pre-text to can the (expensive) series (... to the advantage of BBC singers?)

The BBC singers wouldn’t exist without the support of a public service broadcaster top gear is just another TV show that anyone could make see the grand tour. Comparing the two and saying one thrives at the expense of the other is silly. Top gear is one of the cash cows that helps fund things like the BBC singers.

Think how much better (&revenue wise)Top Gear could be if the presenters could drive - should be some kind of meritocracy
maybe the older fifth gear presenters Plato/Kartikeum/Vicki are too old for yoof appeal but they sure know how to drive

I read somewhere that the car Flintoff was driving had no air bags and has facial injury's as well has broken ribs.

see above to my post. he was driving an old Morgan three wheel and tipped it on a bend and slid along the floor. Hence no ari bags, no roll cage. he had a helmet only but perhaps his face scrapped along the floor for some time. those old three wheelers scare me to death

All the fun you get on top gear is on YouTube now with content coming daily. The days of the BBC are numbered.

You also have so much content that you can choose what you want rather then have to sit through bits you do not enjoy like in top gear.
