The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Doesn't BBC remit demand some transparency of activities, especially if there were some H&S investigation or civil case -
is (factual productions) productions company part of the bbc though.

He took a Morgan out to have a play, no lid and binned it by the sound of it. Here you see the results of face and tarmac I suspect.

A bit like Peter Kay, I still have no idea what happened to him and no idea exactly what happened to Freddie.
It's amazing really that nothing has come out.

Thought it was all pretty well known? Freddie was driving the new Morgan 3 wheeler round a track and he tipped it on a bend which resulted in his face sliding along the track at speed. Very easy to do with the three wheelers.

The issue is that he was only wearing an open face helmet. That was the H&S mistake there. i saw when Tiff reviewed the same car, he wore a full face helmet (and he almost tipped it over several times but been a better driver, he managed to rescue it each time)

I didn't know but I'll admit I never went looking for it.
Thanks.

I do wonder why this has been kept so quiet considering how much publicity previous Top Gear accidents have been given. There's been absolutely nothing from the BBC at all.
I'm quite sure there is extensive legal shenanigans going on. Particularly as being disfigured as a professional TV presenter has impact on future earnings etc. I have a friend who suffered life-changing injuries from a traffic accident and the legal stuff was going on for nearly a decade.

Looking at the injuries still this far down the line indicates a number of surgeries.
When you look at his nose it sort of gives an idea of the scale of whats occurred, I doubt this footage will ever see the light of day due to the significance of the injury.
For those who need help;
It looks like his nose has been reattached and rebuilt.

It would be an interesting case. Freddie is well established as purposely driving like an idiot, to the extent that Chris Harris (a good and experienced driver) has commented on it more than once. So to what extent is it an H&S failure versus him driving like a maniac?

I think it's analogous to law of putting fences around swimming pools so children don't fall in.

But, it is surprising the on the fifth gear tiff/sabine (god what a loss) morgan+others comparison video neither had crash helmets.

By putting him in an open face helmet.

Feel like it’s finished Top Gear for good to be honest or at least in its current form. Presenters nearly killing themselves hooning about has happened multiple times now, surely the insurers won’t keep allowing it.

If all the health and safety isn’t watertight on this someone’s gonna get taken to the cleaners. You can see why it’s been very hushed up cos clearly it was very serious.
You know what, ill be completely fine if we get a topgear which just goes back to the old format of test driving cars and maybe a season special with a point to point race.

im honestly not fussed about the dicking around / comedy element to it anymore. There is plenty of that content available on youtube.

it'll be a shame if we dont see Chris harris back on TV again though.

I don't get open face helmets for high risk stuff. I wear a full face one whenever I ride my mountain bike. I don't care if people think it looks overkill. I can't imagine the pain he went through. It's bad enough having road rash from limbs... imagine having your half peeled open face scrubbed clean. Should have insisted on full leathers/armour and a full face helmet at minimum.

Gives me the shivers. Must have been in absolute agony at the time - I'd imagine the body would shut down from the shock of the pain.

Having had my lips and part of my nose re-attached after a cycling accident at ~30mph hitting the back of a parked car (I was shoved by another car) I cannot imagine what's happened to him to be in this state months later. I had it tacked together, then surgery a day later and had many many stitches out 2 weeks later. The nerves took a year or two to find their way back together so I had numb parts of my face and I have some scars but otherwise I'm still hot af after the fact.

Clearly a very bad day in the office and potentially career limiting. It's ery telling that the banter & camaraderie from the three on social media instantly stropped and nothing was said about it.

As a motorcyclist, I've really not understood fishbowl/half cut helmets. Protect your head but not your face/jaw? What the point in that? It's moronic.
