The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Bunch of people aged from about 14 upwards tearing around the town I work in on dirt bikes and quads, most of them have no helmets, none of them wearing protective clothing, sometimes there is a kid no more than 5!, probably more like 3-4, on a petrol powered quad, smaller one but no toy - it can do at least 30MPH, fair play he is actually in control of it with a good sense for speed and has at least some awareness of traffic, etc. - way more than I ever had at that age but that isn't the point.

Police say there is basically nothing they can do as they just ride off if they try to stop them and they aren't allowed to chase them unless they commit a "proper" crime.

Surprised none have been seriously injured or even killed yet.

As a motorcyclist, I've really not understood fishbowl/half cut helmets. Protect your head but not your face/jaw? What the point in that? It's moronic.

Yeah I came off my sportsbike at 70mph and slid down tarmac for god knows how many yards. My hands felt like they were on fire as I put them out palm side down instinctively, and that side in summer gloves is obviously quite soft for good feel of controls. I walked away with not a mark on me other than bruising. I had full leathers/boots on and a full face helmet. I insisted on this clothing even if riding to the local shops on a hot summers day. I've seen a mate come off in a T-shirt at 30mph and swore I would never go down that road.

There is something the police can do...punt the ******* off said vehicles.

Not allowed to apparently unless they are in the middle of carrying out theft or something. Surprised something hasn't been done in regard to the welfare of the child though (EDIT: Though to be fair I have no idea what is ongoing in that respect).

We had some teenager riding a scooter along footpaths between houses regularly. Locals complained to the local labour candidate who came round canvasing, the police out some effort in and caught him in the act.

They can do something, they just need a kick up the arse.

(The guy ended up being elected.)

weren't police disciplined about the Wales e-bike 'pursuit'/death (like today - the everard memorial arrests)

Did a double take when I saw her presenting wrc yesterday - look very like Tiff's Morgan co-driver

No helmet for this was nuts, I thought the BBC would be better at identifying these risks after so many previous injury’s on top gear. After all Freddy is a cricketer not a professional driver, and I don’t mean any disrespect by this comment only that the risks associated with the vehicle, weather & driver should have been pretty obvious and that this shouldn’t have happened. I loved top gear so much but I think it might be time to call it a day.

Completely mental that he was ragging a three wheeler around with no helmet, if that's correct. Have to wonder who the hell gave that the green light.
