The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Personally I've enjoyed this series of Top Gear. At moments, better the The Grand Tour. Some naff bits but so too had old Top Gear. Overall, very good.

Chris seems to be finding his feet - felt like he did a good job pretty much throughout that episode, Matt seemed to be putting in almost a token effort though almost like he didn't care any more and Rory was all over the place :s

The boat stuff I really could have taken or left and no idea why some of the other segments were in there even.

Are the BBC not remaining faifthful to the gendre set by Clarkson though ?
Personally I would like a motoring programme no frills like fifth gear.
... but the viewing figures suggest 2.8 mill for top gear versus 2.3 for Grand Tour , so has the Great British public voted ? RIP Clarkson&Co ?
(yes you can say this is comparing apples and oranges, given the additional pay access to Amazon)

I quite like Matt outside the studio. Little bits of humour he does quite well (as you'd expect). Like when matt asked "how sceptical?" to Eddie, to which the reply was "very", prompting Matt to pour all the alcohol in the drink :p

Overall though it did feel like an attempt at being the old trio again.

Enjoyed this season a lot. Still rough round the edges but it's a good mix of technical information and entertainment. It was definitely more enjoyable than the Grand Tour which had me falling asleep quite a few times...

So it's the same time around the track as mine 1:21.6

I'd take yours everytime!

Having driven all the new Boxster, Cayman 718 and new 991.2 range from Porsche, huge ability but in no way would I want to buy, they sound freaking crap. Well the 4 pots do anyway, the 911's are not as bad but still nothing like their NA predecessors which is a big shame.
Also the 4 pot's particular the Boxster had huge turbo lag and even the S variants were still laggy and did not feel great over 6500rpm.

Older Cayman GTS should really hold value now and I can see 991.1 C2S/C4S/GTS holding value too as the sound and engine response is better.

The rehashed turn a car into a boat idea actually surprised me with how well it worked.
I thought it was good. Yes it was an old idea but lets be honest, new style Top Gear is now in to double figure series numbers so they are going to have to re-work some ideas.

Clarkson, May and Hammond would have filled it with foam which then caught on fire or other "LOL we are rubbish at things" type moments. I thought what they did was a fresh take on it.

I really enjoyed the series. I know I don't watch much TV but it has by far been the thing I look forward to watching the most in the last year.

Yes I could give my 2p on what the format "needs" (bye bye Rory, have the guest segment more structured so you don't get the awkward moments from the celebs etc.) but you can't please everyone all the time. I can see the next series being even better.
