The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

The rehashed turn a car into a boat idea actually surprised me with how well it worked.

I was really impressed, thought it looked great but it does look like they cheated and that boat guy clearly built a hull which they then just rammed the car into, but it worked well and the moment there was one already in the tube made me laugh.
I've enjoyed the series, upset I missed the first episode but watched everyone since. I also like the new cast a lot, I think Chris Harris is the best car reviewer on the planet, Matt is great but you'd hope he could act and Rory well I can tolerate him. I also like the fact Sabine and Eddie are making regular appearances as well. Its a good blend of tech and humour, the tech they have spot on, the humour will improve over time as end of the Day Clarkson and co had several years at it.

I enjoy it and even if it was terrible like some make out I'd miss it because any kind of Top Gear is better than no top gear. It beats watching snooker or golf anytime.

I really enjoyed last night's episode and the series as a whole. Still one of the best things on TV currently.

I also agreed with everything Ecclestone said.

Good season and captured the essence of the old top gear. What a simple tweak getting rid of Evans was. Grand Tour has serious competition. Didn't like the result of the boat challenge they just added a hull to the car.

Just got around to watching the last episode and quite enjoyed it. The Cayman review was good and the boat segment added a bit of comedy without going overboard but Jay Kay was a smug **** and an awful guest.

Overall a good series with plenty of improvements from the last and plenty to improve on for the next. The three hosts became more natural as the series progressed so they'll hopefully turn the show in to their own over the next few years, if LeBlank stays that is.

Nice end to a good season. Sure it's not at the level of some of the classic episodes but there were many poor episodes with the old lot and I think these guys have started to find their groove this season. Quite enjoyable to watch :)

At first I didn't like the digger segments but last week's looked so much fun when they were swinging around at full pelt :)

Liked all the episodes, decent harmless and watchable television :)
This tbh,

good effort pretty sure they won't be canning it.

Chris Harris has taken the feedback on board and improved with every episode. He is nowhere near as awkward with the whole not being alone on screen thing.

Chris is great at reviews and anything not in front of an audience but he is getting much better in the studio. I wish he continued to voice his full opinions in chats rather than cutting himself short.

Joey is holding up quite well to presenting, it is far different to the old TG presenting and I think that is needed. He still seems a bit relaxed when in studio "conversation" mode.

Reed needs to go. He's not a bad presenter at all, in fact he is probably the better presenter out of all of them, it's just his attitude and arrogance and general persona which is unlikeable.

Get bonkers Eddie Jordan to replace the boseyed ninja turtle with more help from Chris and Joey, be the perfect trio.

I don't think Joey is good at non scripted humour, certainly based on his studio work and it never really feels natural in the studio with the 3 of them. Harris is a lot better this year as it seems he is now off whatever it was that was making him so hyper and on tip toes all the time. Don't really get the Rory bloke, never really got him frankly and I think he is still the weakest part of the 3 of them. The program is watchable, no worse than the Grand Tour in my book, but I felt that was a little off too.

I'd rather have both shows than neither as I like cars, but I think both shows still need some work. Drop the celeb for 15 minutes bit. I don't mind the quick laps, but guess they come with the promotional ask too so hard to have one without the other. I think the Grand Tour needs to stop the celeb bit completely, utter waste of airtime and funny once, not funny since. One thing Top Gear has kept is the quality of the filming which really is good.

The series was watchable but glad i iPlayer it rather than watch it when it's on. I'm still a Clarkson et al. fan. But this is still worth watching.

watched the last episode, colossal improvement over last season. lebanc is really finding his feet, chris needs work but also improving and no idea what rory is in there for.

glad the writers have ditched most of the Clarkson era jokes and like leblanc starting to find their feet, shows promise.
Hopefully next season they'll gel together even more.

will get round to watching the other episodes when I'm bored, not good enough to want to watch it yet.

the GT although better, also needs a lot of work, see if they improve in S2 as well.

Episode 6 apparently managed to get a woeful 2.4 million viewers... Even worse than the previous series managed at it's worst, but overall, they were going up from the end of the last series.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't perfect, Rory is meh... Chris was getting better. Matt is actually pretty good. he's not really a presenter so he's learning as he goes.

Oh and the host of Extra Gear needs to go away. Just let the one of the 3 host it.

Well, seeing as TGT has finished, i guess the next series of Top Gear is due soon, already a couple of teaser videos out, though, still not sure if there's a set date yet, though, i guess it'll be March some time.
