The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Seems completely plausible to me, if you were the owner would you want it being driven in cold, wet, mucky conditions? There are plenty of people with much more mundane garage queen cars that won't even think about taking it out unless it's going to be warm and bone dry.
Exactly and anyone who gives a monkeys about their car would understand that. The excuse used in the show was something about it being too cold for the tyres. Yes that might effect the time but it doesn't stop you doing it hence why I think that the real reason is that the owner or Ferrari themselves said no.

I just read that as the owner did say no to be honest as they were happy to bring it back when it warms up. It's just a bit more polished for tv than owner says no because they don't want it out in the crap british weather.

I've just rewatched on the way home, and whilst it was enjoyable I didn't laugh, and it wasn't funny. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining... it's just not as amusing as I was expecting.

The FxxK was amazing though - and I agree on the crash, it certainly didn't looked staged at all. I think they went for the "safe" option for the first episode.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell they're still finding their feet somewhat, but I feel that it has a lot of promise. The segments were excellent and even the studio material flowed a lot better than it did in the previous series.

Reflecting back on The Grand Tour, I feel that the whole thing was just a bit too polished and grandiose, with the 'arsing around' feeling more forced and the three blokes almost trying too hard to be slapstick in the face of the enormous budget and production values. I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. Whereas the 'new' Top Gear feels a lot more down to earth with more of what I enjoyed (messing around in cars without being too obviously silly). The cinematography has been upped a notch or three, too. Very filmic and less brash than The Grand Tour. The FXX K segment was beautifully edited, and Le Blanc's little wrap-up at the end of the moon mileage car segment was rather poignant.

I look forward to the following episodes.

This is the issue i had with chm top gear in the later years. it became a crap staged comedy rather than a car show. why does it have to be funny? cant it just be entertaining? The producers need to decide which it wants to be and run with it imo.

ok episode and something to build on. siarpc was tolerable as it was split and fairly short. challenge wasnt the most exciting but watchable. ferrari section was good.

Would any owner of a £2m million car allow it to be borrowed by somebody else to try and push a fast lap on a race track in the cold and wet with slicks on?

Far more likely the car will end up damaged or written off.

But it's the Stig? Not like it's a Koenigsegg CCX with no aero. ;) :D

Just caught up with this. Thought it was much better than the previous series, and bar some awkward studio 'acting' the three of them seem to have gelled pretty well. The filming felt less contrived than large amounts of the later series of Clarkson et al.

Chris Harris ribbing into James McAvoy when he was driving felt a bit much, unnecessary.

I enjoyed it though, FxxK was a good segment, just a useless car that we didn't really learn anything about. Harris is normally very technical and descriptive, this was just made for the house wife forced to watch it with her husband.

Enjoyed this series. So much better than the previous one, and found myself chuckling at points, the same way I used to chuckle with the old crew. Promising.

Enjoyed it. Had a few laughs but still wish they'd let Chris be Chris. I feel like they've told him to be this personality that he isn't. Can be a bit cringey sometimes so hope they let him tone it down.

I generally liked it to be fair. The trio don't quite have the chemistry yet but the content itself wasn't that bad. On par with some of the more boring episodes of Grand Tour for me.

No chemistry between the guys, and was not very "exciting"

To be fair, you could say the exact same thing about the first few series of old new Top Gear.

Hell the reason so many people think James May was an original cast member is because Dave/etc never show the first series, it was that bad.
