The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

To be fair, you could say the exact same thing about the first few series of old new Top Gear.

Hell the reason so many people think James May was an original cast member is because Dave/etc never show the first series, it was that bad.

True - I'm not suggesting it was bad, once they relax around one another I'm sure it will become more natural rather than contrived.

I'm not saying it was bad, I watched it after all, it just felt a little awkward in places, and just not as amusing, but I'm sure that will flourish - I just wonder how much the BBC producers over edit / stifle some of the more fun stuff.

Watched it, thought it was reasonable. Felt a bit forced and Harris playing up for the camera doesn't suit him he needs to simmer down.

Oh and I suppose for comparison, seen a couple of episodes of TGT (I'm not a prime subscriber) and thought it was very 'meh', wasn't prepared to pay to watch it.

Maybe I don't remember it properly, but was it a bit too much around their challenge? Was there perhaps not enough 'other' bits? (Which is odd, as I love the challenges)

The Ferrari Fuxk, the star, the weird bit about the water jet... am I just forgetting other stuff?

I actually didn't mind this (now that Chris Evans has gone - I couldn't watch more than one episode with him in it..). The chemistry between them is still a bit awkward and I can't say I am a fan of Rory Reid. Chris Harris and Matt Le Blanc are pretty good though and the filming/direction was very good (especially the Ferrari FFX bit). The editing in the studio bits seemed a bit odd/awkward though.

I reckon I will keep watching.

Quite pleased as I like both this and The Grand Tour now so two car programmes to watch :)

I still think The Grand Tour is better. Clarkson is just simply a very funny man which instantly makes it more entertaining.

Just watched first ep on catch up. I didn't mind that at all tbh, some laugh out loud moments and stunning camera work, give it a season or two and let them gel more. Studio bits felt a tad awkward but then I felt the tent bits on TGT were also.

Win win in my eyes, two decent "car" based shows to watch.

Oh for the love of god - the tired old "the producers said this, we said otherwise so they gave us blah and challenged us to blah".

TRY SOMETHING ORIGINAL FFS!

Not a bad piece so far but kind of waiting for Rory to turn up in the "unexpected option" like May.

Matt is right though, the 911 can be more capable in every measurable way but it's not a supercar. If I were spending that kind of money I'd want something with a naturally aspirated V10 that looks like it's from space, not an uber-efficient turbo-charged flat six in something that looks like every other Porsche on the road.

So far a lot better than the previous episode. Feels a lot less like they are just reading lines straight off a script.

Still lacks the lols the old 3 have though :)
