The Touchpad Android thread

It's a user interface, it sits on top of Android. Think if it like Sense or Touchwiz - far more than just a launcher.

Never used Sense or Touchwiz so can't comment but MIUI seems v.good!

Is MIUI activated by pressing the home button (like choosing the other launchers?)

If it's as good as it sounds, it might have to replace the stock launcher and GO Launcher EX that I use now.

You can't do that as the launcher is only part of the MIUI framework. You need to install a complete MIUI ROM as it has it's own modified kernel plus other dependencies - just like Sense/Touchwiz launchers can't be added on to non Sense/Touchwiz ROMs.

There are a few lauchers around that emulate the MIUI look and feel though.

Right, I think got you!
Does this MIUI totally replace the android OS?
Can you triple boot?

MIUI is Android, but like HTC Sense etc. it has it's own modified framework and kernel. You can't easily rip individual elements our of the framework like the launcher because there are so many dependencies on other MIUI components despite it still being Android underneath. Just think of it like a multi phone version of a manufacturer modified Android like HTC or Samsung Touchwiz, it's more than just a launcher. Hope I explained it better this time. ;)

But yes, normally you would replace your current version of Android (be it stock, HTC Sense whatever) with MIUI's version of Android. Not sure if you'll be able to triple boot on the Touchpad, haven't looked as I don't really like MIUI, too iPhone-y.

Is flash supposed to be working now? I'm using 3.5 and when I use either the youtube app or use a browser to view youtube, the videos are covered by a flashing purple and green flashing patches.

-edit- appears I needed to reboot after installing Flash 11. Videos now work in landscape mode but black screen when trying to view in portrait.

Do you mean when going full screen? Don't most portrait/landscape switching tablets and phones auto to landscape for video? I don't recall being able to watch a clip in portrait mode. Could be wrong though. I know on my iPod Touch that all youtube and video clips default to landscape and don't even have an option for portrait afaik.

With the youtube app, it does automatically go full screen to landscape but if the touchpad is rotated to portrait mode, the area where the video should play is outlined but there is no picture. The same goes for when I try to watch a video via the Opera browser.
