**THE ULTIMATE ROUTER - ASUS RT-N66U - BACK IN STOCK! **

I still need to replace my adsl/router (been interested in the ASUS product line since the last thread that was put up), but I have enough boxes plugged in to wall sockets that I'm not really interested in a standalone router.

Even if it is superior as a standalone, almost all my traffic is internet-bound from the various devices in my house rather than with eachother, so what's the point of having a separate router** if everything I do is governed/limited by the next device in the chain anyway?

** Bearing in mind I view of the software features added to routers like media servers or torrent fetchers as gimmicks I don't want.

I've got a question, can OCUK provide a screen screenshot or a short demonstration with the data transfer on how fast the dual band wireless is?

I want to do more HD video streaming and when I say HD, I'm not talking about youtube content i'm talking about if it can keep up with streaming a blueray video (uncompressed) over wireless?

possibly, will have to wait until they are in stock as I dont have the physical router to carry out any testing on sadly.

Looks nice like the option to install a 3g usb dongle I assume ?

giving u a backup internet point, still @ that price shoulda had a build in sim slot for 3g broadband.

Also there should be an ADSL version, again at that price would half imagine it on there built in !

my current router is about 7 years old and cost 100 at the time :D

gonna keep it till it dies lol, if these 150 quid ones last aslong its cheap really

Plus factor in how much most of us actually use a router and utterly batter it with online games whilst demanding stable connections with low pings. Easily get your moneys worth in the long run.

yea mines the old dlink dgl4300 gaming router, does everything i require still :D
1gbit hardwired and 54mbps wifi :)

handles 700+ connections with ease and usually goes months on end without a reboot, expensive routers are an investment and should last you a very long time

not bad for a router thats about 7 years old :D

Essentially yeah. This is very much aimed at cable and fttc users

The adsl version will be the same I imagine but with the obvious addition of the adsl features. Sadly I cannot get cable in my area so I will be looking at the adsl model when asus pull their finger out and get that released!

If I had ADSL, i'd never buy the adsl version of this. What happens if you get infinity or cable in your area in the future? new router?!

I know i'd rather have a seperate modem and a good router such as this.
