**THE ULTIMATE ROUTER - ASUS RT-N66U - BACK IN STOCK! **

Yeah I know,
but the thread price is still different to the web price by about £10-14 if you click the link theres a difference :)

The forum post doesn't update when there is price fluctuations.
The reason the price has increased was because I had this listed so early that the cost price wasn't originally established when it went live.

As with all volatile computer hardware, price changes are a regular occurance, not to mention the changes in the dollar rate from the time of listing to the time we got stock.

If I am honest, I'm just glad the pricing didn't change more.

Ah ok, fair enough haha.. Will wait for the day of free posting only worth high postage costs when its an expensive item :)

Bought this router today for 132 .. Would have bought from ocuk but the price diff was too large this time round...

Would this be a good choice to replace my speedtouch 780 purely for streaming HD films to my boxee as of now boxee works but seems to always buffer every now n them whilst watching a streaming HD film in the bedroom (speedtouch is in living room next room)

So my rt-n66u turned up at the office this morning which was a nice surprise because I ordered it late Friday evening.

Looking good so far. Going to try with Tomato USB when I get a spare moment.

What would be best for me, I live in an area with ADSL and no mention of changing.

should I buy this router and an ethernet modem or by the ADSL N55 Here?

which one would give me the best functionality/performance.

moving from a perfectly good but aged Netgear router with very little in the way of management capabilities.

I would personally look at the adsl version. You will get great performance from it still. No point getting the n66u if you have adsl unless you want to use it with a seperate modem I guess

Judging by the pic of the connectors on the back, it's the same size as the dsl-n55u that they do, which means if you taken a DVD case and add a centimeter to the length and height, it'd just about cover the top of it. Stands about an inch high at the front, inch and a half at the back (it slopes forward).

Why would somebody choose this over the RT-N56U?
Genuine question and not a troll?

Also is Tomato FW really worth looking into?
I'm not up to speed at all when it comes to networking

Erm no tape measure handy . I would say its virtually the same size as the superhub i have replaced it with.

Initial perceptions - having upgraded to the .116 beta firmware

Wireless performance around speed is loads better

Wireless range is about 20% better

Not set up all my other bits and pieces yet just wanted to get it installed and put the printers etc back on the network. Will have a play with the other features this weekend :)

I've been eyeing this thing up for months now.

Still unsure whether its for me, interested to here your thoughts when you've got yours all set up.
