Bugger it, if USB charging wakes up its a bonus if not, then I'm not really bothered.

I think I know the one you mean, two holes bored through the top for the batteries, think he showed it with a small Lipo pack as well.

You mentioned you had bought one of the mamu faceplates, I might be able to get some cheap face plates printed through a member on a local vape group, will see how much he can print them for and if its cheap enough get a batch of 5-10 done. Shapeways are horrific on postage

Fixed the USB charging. Completely user error, for some stupid reason I'd set the battery to LiFePO4 so it thought it was fully charged with the cells above 3.6V

So how do I know when I need to replace a coil? Its been a week now, I've been told they should last a week but I'm not really noticing anything different?

Apparently you'll get a burnt taste when drawing and depending on the tank and the settings, 6-8 weeks I believe

Flavour and vapour production tend to fall off when a coil is ready to be replaced.

How long they last depends on quite a lot of variables (Power, Liquid colour and sugar content)

Burnt taste it too much power

Found my Cthuhlu v2 sitting on my desk when I got to the office.
First impressions are not good. Shoddy machining everywhere and the threads are as rough as a badger.
The outside of the tank looks well made it's the inside that concerns me. There is a little ring that you are supposed to tuck your wicks under when building. You only get one for the two decks and try as I might I can't get the damn thing to go on to the dual coil deck. The threads are cut so badly that it just snarls up and won't budge.

I will try and persuade it later with some tools it doesn't bode well. Once on, I doubt it will come off again if I want to use the single coil deck.

Thanks for the heads up Rilot, was almost going to order one this morning, between it and the Uwell Crown tank and this has helped make my mind up.. My work m8 got the Uwell and its a nice tank and looks great in the matt black, he has the SS coil in it and running on a DNA40 at 40w and temp does not go over 81c and its a nice vap.

From what ive read up on the Cthulhu V2, you don't have to use that wick trapping ring, it is optional.. at least that's what the official site says.. user choice...

Send it back, threads on mine are very well machined, didn't even require a break in period. I also got two wick rings, one pre fitted to each deck. Sounds like you got a shoddy unit.

I found when wicking, don't force cotton down the wells, have it near enough resting on the bottom of the build deck and gently nudge a little down.

One more con I've noticed...the 510 pin is very short, I had to wind it out almost 1/4" for it to make contact on a few mods, provided I remember a screwdriver I'll try the dual coil deck tonight.

Sorry i did not mean that in a bad way.. but compared to a Yihi or DNA based chip, the isticks are cheap about at 6 - 8 watts on the 20w model i would not expect coil whine even on an istick..
I kinda skipped the EGO style pen vape and went straight in with this, so it's effectively my starter kit. Am looking around at bigger devices.

The whine you're referring to is the circuit working as intended, similarly to PWM, it switches the power supplied from the battery on/off repeatedly to give the power required, you'll notice the 'whine' changes as you vary the watts and disappears at max.
Yeah, Coil Whine was the closest description I could come up with.
It sounds more like the pulsing/buzzing from electricity arcing, albeit on a tiny scale.

So how is it that my Curve will go up to 20w (18.9w on 1.6Ω), and yet every liquid I've tried tastes burnt if I go much above 10w?
What do I need to make this thing billow out a bit more?

In discussion with the vendor now.

Yep, I know exactly the sound you mean, as far as I'm aware it's fine, about 75% of the Curve 2's all make that noise, mine included.

Assuming you have a curve 2 then you have the CS air tank, I had the same one and had no problems with using it at 20w. Two things: 1) try screwing the airflow adjustment in further. This will give you a tighter draw, so inhalation will try to draw more juice into the coil to keep up with the faster vaporisation. If that doesn't help then I'd say 2) some of the cotton in the coil is already burnt, so a higher wattage is making that more noticeable - try replacing the coil and washing your tank out (isopropyl alcohol is the best but water works just fine). And make sure to prime your coil well when you fit a fresh one - give it 5 or so drags without power, and 5 mins to absorb ideally, before vaping.

Mine arrived on Friday night and I received two wick rings pre-fitted as well.

Got a 0.5ohm dual coil build in there (26g), wicked with a tiny amount into the juice channels and not a single dry hit at all yet (30-40w).

No machining issues or anything like that.

Had a couple issues with leaking at first when filling. Now I close the juice control, close the airhole, remove the top cap and fill leaving a bit of room.

Replace the top cap, invert it, open the juice control then open the airflow. Couple tiny drops coming out but no big deal.

Enjoying it so far!

Arrived today and ordered Friday night so that is excellent service. Couldn't resist opening it before taking some pics. Will inspect and build it in the evening.

Wow, snap, crackle but no pop :p this thing is making me light headed. Chucks clouds like there is no tomorrow if you're into that sort of thing. I used the pre-built coils which from a guess were 26 guage kanthal 2.5mm and overall it came to 0.3 ohms. 2-3 second drags are more than enough with this atty. Flavour is very good from get go, I'm using Snake oil which is 60/40 PG/VG. I've only half filled the tank but will let you know if it consumes eliquid quickly, how it wicks (dry hits) and if there is any change in flavour.
