Its the one real problem with this thread, its gone on for so long now, that getting anything meaningful from it is nigh on impossible for someone just coming to vaping.

Ideally we need a "New vapers start here" kind of thing.

As for myself, I started out with a couple of pen-style e-cigs from totally-wicked, a tornado v3 and then later a v5. Later I moved from a pen-style to a 20w eLeaf iStick which I used until this week, when I switched to a 60w eTec VTC mini (my first forray into "sub-ohm")

As for liquids and the such, its mostly a case of trying various places, to find what works for you, everybody has different likes and dislikes, and of course, it is all subjective.

Thank you :) yeah you need one for newbies :D this thread blew my mind

Oh and I forgot to say. I can spend about say £40 odd, will spend more if needs be for initial unit or whatever you call it.
Its more the ongoing cost I want to keep low. The liquids or batteries or top ups of whatever I will need.
Just want to find the right one for me.
You all seem so clued up on it all  sounds so scientific. My brain hurts from reading it all :p

Don't worry, it's only as complicated as you want it to be. Most of us are enthusiasts so don't worry about making Clapton coils on bespoke mods just yet!

I recommend a simple variable wattage mod to start with such as the eleaf istick 30w or curve, both very straightforward devices and will allow you to adjust the heat of your atomiser to your preference. I'd suggest putting a subtank mini on it as you can buy prepared coils so you don't have to learn how to make your own straight away (but it's much cheaper than buying disposables if you get more comfortable later on).

Liquids are very much a personal thing. Finding a good tobacco liquid is tough because burning tobacco tastes like burning leafs and ash, but I highly recommend El toro, El Cigarillos if you want a very close approximation. It isn't the cheapest, but it's really good. You can get that from the house of liquid website.

You might want to try out a good vanilla custard liquid like Digby mums custard. You'll be surprised how quickly you realise tobacco flavours aren't essential to a satisfying tobacco replacement. Like you I don't find fruity vapes very satisfying, even if they are tasty.

Thanks :) can't wait to start now :D no more stinky roll ups  horrible tobacco.

In the original thread I tried to do this with the Op, but the hardest part was keeping it relevant as everything changes so quickly with new mods and atties coming out all the time. I believe that some of it might still be relevant if someone wants to copy and paste it into the OP as a place to refer new vapers to. It's been archived now I think.

Having seen this the talk of the aromamizer in this thread and watched a few YT videos, I've just bitten the bullet.

They look like a truly fantastic RDTA and the design is very impressive.

6ml, Velocity deck.

I've hardly used anything else since I got it. The only leak I've had was doing priming pulls on it after putting new cotton in. Clearly it didn't need that lol

Good move Tommy, you will love it, ive not stopped using mine since i got it, blows everything else away, easy to build and wick, no leaks At All... and great flavour :)

I have found that the included Anti spit back drip tip mutes the flavour a little so have swapped it for a very short delrin drip tip and ive removed the naff airflow vape band as i like it fully open and the band seams to restrict it a tiny bit, plus it looks naff with it on... ll

Think I'm going to have to get an Aromamizer as well.

Will have to wait till next month I've spent enough this month with the DNA200

It sounds like everythng the Cthulhu V2 promised to be

Vote to ban UKDTweak?

Every time he posts his new toys he hurts mine and everyone elses wallet. :p

The well on that Aromamizer looks like it will keep those wicks saturated very er....well. Any flooding issues with it?

None, just make the tails long enough to pack the bottom of the deck, I've also been packing under the coil as well as no airflow is pulling from underneath :) .If you were daring enough you could even drill out the wicking holes fairly easily to let even more fluid in.

I'll grab a pic of my vdeck Clapton build later today - it's a squeeze but boy does it perform!! At 70w at the moment, anymore it burns my lips as my tank is so short.

Speaking of which, my steam crave direct order came in yesterday - so the guys ordering direct you're looking roughly a 10 working day delivery.

No leaks at all on the Aromamizer, as for wicking, i cut the tails just long enough to fold under the coils and rest over the juice holes in the bottom of the deck, if you have your coils positioned properly the airflow will hit direct on the coils.

@Twirly... ive got more on order lol :P

I need another tank, well maybe another 3 because of the different flavours I like to vape so will check it out.

Build a mini mod ;)

How I have mine wicked atm, if I look through the air holes they're lined up with roughly the top 1/3 of the coil face :)

Have you tried raising the coils to have more in direct path of the air, if so does it make any kind of monumental difference to the vape, or do you purposely only have 1/3 directly exposed?

I fear if I raise them too much it will short against the top of the chimney section, the coils still get plenty of air, have all 4 air holes wide open, running at 70w, not even a hint of burning so I have to assume the coils are being kept wet and cool enough :)

I may try on my next build sitting the coils center level with the top post holes and see if that makes any difference.

Tbh I'd be amazed if raising the coils makes much difference as the vape is already head and shoulders above anything else I've used :)

Custom build? SX350J? Dual 18650?

SVB-Mods, old skool paint work, single battery, sx350j.. :)
It's one of three at the moment, the only one in this colour.

Also being told that the sx flask should in stock next week, but I've also been speaking to someone who's preordered directly from flask and he's not even been shipped yet.
