Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

I really do................

Retailers accuse AMD of price hikery, meanwhile actually price hiking themselves.

AMD fans getting upset, even though Nvidia have been bending us over for years.

It's all a bit ironic really.

Ultimately though, it's just like every other GPU launch, wait for the launch fever to calm down, then buy. Pricing and what's available will be much better.

One can only lead a horse to water. Not make them drink.

The launch price was subsidised by AMD. OCUK would have made a loss at that price. The launch price +£100 is the real price.

But also Plus the retailer hike. Look at current in stock VEGA prices. Jacked up just like every GPU launch.

(AMD / Retailers) People in glass houses...

Just wait for launch fever to settle.

Also Nvidia have bent us over for years now, why are there no pitchforks for them. If AMD can sell their cards at these prices and the retailer gets a slice as well then good on em.

So £550 once launch fever has settled.

£300 for V56 and £500 for V64 would have been ideal for the base cards (Extra for Liquid coooling). I imagine will be a long time before we see it.

Some of Nvidia's GPU's are more expensive now then they were at launch (Last year)

It's a sign of the times.. Let AMD make some money. Their next lot of cards can be even better then.

Not sure why you keep bringing Nvidia in to this.

But ok, when was the last Nvidia card sent out for review stating It will cost X amount only for come release that figure is a rebated figure with Limited numbers and in fact the real cost is £100 more.

That is exactly where it should be.

$500 / £500. I think we will see this price eventually. You have to allow for launch fever, it goes crazy at first. Prices will settle, try not to get caught out imho.

Alright, no problems with this then?:

Nvidia Volta GTX 1180Ti - the new GPU king under $400.

After it settles.

P.S. Could take two years for it to settle.

Only because there seems to a witch hunt starting with AMD. Retailers accuse AMD of switch and bait, meanwhile retailers themselves are hiking prices right now. When people think they can make an extra buck, they will..

Nvidia have been bending us all over for a long time, my point is. This is the GPU space, sadly.

Prices willl settle, I don't see the big deal or need to condemn. But if we are going too,

Let's not condemn AMD without also condeming retailers and AMD's rival Nvidia too.

You seem like you just want a fight with someone, if you look at Nvidia's pricing it's higher in a lot of cases than last year. It is what it is really. AMD's cards have just launched and hikery is taking place. It's just par for the course.

You can't be mad at AMD and not Nvidia or retailers too. Doesn't make sense.

No. :)

Please don't take it personally.

I just find it terribly funny (and I won't carry on and on, just getting some laughs in) that they said it was the new GPU king under $500, and then Gibbo revealed that price was only for the launch day and AMD had provided special rebates for the launch day only. What's funny about it is why someone at AMD would think nobody would go "wut?".

Xd ha, yeah it's always a bit chaotic at launch though. I remember Nvidia's 10 series launch was harrowing as well. Stock and pricing were awful. Have got used to it now. Prices will come down, although because of mining it is not helping us gamers at all. Bad times in the GPU space. However now we have seen VEGA, I am gonna plump for another 1080 Ti xD. Performance is where it matters most imo, and AMD just don't have it where it counts for me. At the very high end.

I think the GTX 1070 competitor looks great though, I am going to get one for my boys PC. If launch price of X56 is also borked will just wait...

It's a totally different issue and most people without blinkers can plainly see that. Yes, NVidia prices have gone up, and that is due to both a shortage and retailers hiking prices because they're taking advantage of the mining demand.
That is a completely different issue to a supplier giving a temporary discount to just a few sales in order to falsely state a lower price.
