***The Wine Thread***

Not sure anyones been but i went to Salut wines yesterday for the first time (to drink in anyway, i've bought to take out before)

They have a superb set up whereby they have 32 wines open and you can buy by the glass in either 50ml, 125ml or 175ml measures. You can also have a top up card to allow you to help yourself. Some of the wines are upwards of £200 a bottle, so this allows you to try some stunning wines at a reasonable price.

I had a fantastic Ricosoli which i can't remember the name of and came out with some Champagne i've never heard of before (also can't remember the name. Started with BR i think, will check when i get home - Also got given a nice back story to the House which is always nice. What i didn't realise was that a lot of the Champagne Houses were destroyed in WW2 and not many recovered however this one was re-setup in the 80's)

Highly recommended for anyone in/around Manchester.

Got a trio of London based wine events open to all in the next few weeks. Probably shouldn't post specifics but anyone who fancies more info, do trust me.

Delete / tell me to edit if this is too promotional in nature.

Afraid not as the City will probably be a wasteland that week. I won't have much work to do either though so can probably open a few bottles on the Monday or Wednesday if either suited.

I've added the Nativ to my wishlist, looks good! Doesn't seem to be stocked in the UK but I'll have to tag it onto another order sometime.

Had a bottle of Lunaria Ruminat Primitivo 2016 on Saturday night. My wine shop had the '62 Primitivo bigged up so much on here but at £26 it's a bit rich for me and I liked the look of the Ruminat! Highly recommend it, big on the fruit with a decent amount of oak (though could be more!). Balanced well with a good bit of sweetness. Would definitely buy again, I think Primitivo is my favourite wine.

Got a bottle of Troublemaker for Friday night. Seems a fair bit going on in the bottle, but sounds good!

Whilst it's never ideal to be stuck to a particular shop, yesterday i got a voucher from Majestic where i get £30 off if i spend over £100. This seems like reason to buy wine, however sadly none of the wines you guys have mentioned are on their (Purple Angle, 62 Anniversary etc)

Anyone fancy taking a look and suggesting some decent reds? I'd probably like to get around 8 bottles in total. So around the £10-£15 mark. Obviously if something is worth spending more on i'll grab a couple of cheaper bottles than i know i like to try and limit my spending.

Marv, I'd probably try the Ravenswood Lodi 2014 US Zinfandel and the Cline Ancient Vines US Zinfandel 2014. Any Napa Valley (not Sonoma) Cabs from 2012/13/14. Also Californian Pinot Noirs from 12/13/14 if they are from Santa Lucia Highlands or Sonoma. The Chocolate Block from SA always taste great but are a bit expenny.

It's a disappointing selection, tbh.
