Cheers Tuppy, i agree it's a weak selection. I'm sure it used to be better, the sparkling selection looked weak too. Plus they have shut both the Preston and Sale branches too which is a shame.

Marv, I'd also try the Primitivo Surani Costarossa 2015. A 14% Primi di Manduria from 2015 can't go far wrong, espesh at £12

I've tried the Lytton Springs and it's a great wine! Picked this up to try which I'm looking forward to try but still struggling to locate some of the others of Orin's!

Buying up wine in the name of Christmas has started! First up, from Uvinum:

Six of these Napa Cabs at £19.47 each (exc. delivery)
Six of these Napa Zinfandels at £17.52 each
Plus six Loire Sauvignons for the missus (three each of these Sancerre for £18.50 each and these at £16.54)

Edit: delivery for all 18 bottles was £19 from the Netherlands

The order arrived yesterday and the Cabs are 2012 not 2013. I sent off an email and he replied with, "The 2012 is nearly as good as the 2013, would you mind keeping the 2012?" Vivino have the 2012 as a 4 to the 4.1 of the 2013. Wine Spectator reckon the years were equally good for Napa Cabs generally. I acknowledged it would be expensive and difficult to return the wines to the Netherlands, stated that I didn't want to put him out of pocket, but stressed that I shouldn't pay over the odds either.

Fancy not even offering a fee bottle (even as part of another order)

I'd be a bit ****** about that. I'd say it's his mistake, so he can get them collected for 2013s, or offer you a token of goodwill for the troubles. That's what I'd be saying.

I noticed you mentioned the Zolla Primitivo a few pages back. I've just been looking at the 62 for £26 on Amazon but that Zolla 15/16 can be had around half that (Well £42 for 3 bottles)

Zolla is a very nice, not too heavy but bags of flavour every day drinker. The 62 is big, bold, dark, rich!

EDIT - Gosset Grande Reserve is very cheap on there too at 38euros. It's about £50 over here. Ooh they have the Millesime for 54euros. I've never tried that, but then they also have the bdb for 48euros.

This could get expensive!

Emailed them to see if they’ll refund/replace the missing one. It’s the second cheapest in the order so hopefully they don’t think I’m trying it on. I could have said the 62 went walkies

Edit: 7 minutes for customer service to respond and offer a refund or replacement, amazing!

@Marvt74 I find the site dangerous, it's not my fav for Champagne (naturally France is cheaper...!) but it's got a cracking selection of reds on there I like. They have the limited edition / old vines italian I linked to at the top of the page, and that's stunning.

Can anyone recommend a high quality dessert wine? I want to get a bottle for Christmas dinner instead of a bottle of champagne this year. Looking for something really nice, like Sauternes or Tokaji.
