The Witcher 2 - Thread

Got a couple of days off work now, was looking forward to playing it tbh, but it is completely unplayable. I'm half way through a fight and the controls change.

Just had a fight against some elves, i locked on to one of them, my steel sword ripping through his T-shirt to take 10% off his life, when another 3 just started attacking me and killed me as i was attacking him.

Is this some kind of joke? Are you telling me that someone playtested this and said "yes combat is great" LOL.
Lets make it so that Grealt can only attack one character at a time, then lets surround him with enemies, enemies that take around 5 hits to kill each (despite not having any armour), whilst Geralt(wearing the legendary Raven's Armour) is killed after around 5 hits himself.
Combat is just boring, i really can't be bothered

Also, i just had to go into a cave, so i took the potion Cat, yet i still an barely see anything. doesn't it make any difference?

Level ups and improved armour will make Geralt untouchable later on in the game (depending on which skill path you concentrate on).

Yes, Cat does make a difference. Night vision plus some funky see-through-walls-and-inside-bodies effect.

I'm not normally one for RPG games, but the graphics/voice acting/locations piqued my interest in this.

The level of detail in the game is amazing compared to games of a similar price, something like a linear shooter must take a fraction of the time to make.

I know that they had to make it so that you have to level up, but this is ridiculous, Geralt is already a skilled fighter, he should not be this crap. How has he survuved this long when he can't even kill an elf without a shirt on with less than 6 hits with his sword!
It ruins the immersion for me, i can't take it seriously now because it doesn't make sense! I just tried to intimidate someone and it didn't work and i'm thinking "you're not kidding, i wouldn't tke any crap from this chump either":D

Must be another bug, because i didn't see that at all.
I have never played a game as buggy as this. I might play it in a few moths time when it has been properly patched

You obviously didn't play the first game shortly after release :p

No, i played the Enhanced Edition. Only finished last week ready for this. Some website said that this patch was due today.

The graphics settings are quite clearly making no difference, as i am getting buildings and stuff pop up from around 20 feet away.

Having said all that though, i am playing the Retail version, which is said to be the most unstable and buggy

Anyone else got a problem with getting the monk's reward to show up in the extras menu? Beaten him three times of which last one was with 2 pairs, a message congratulating me on winning something gog related showed up and told me to look in the Extras section but nothing's there. Also what is the story with the relic he is supposed to hand over?

I have the game through GOG as well and i beat the guy, but nothing showed up in Extras for me either.

Looks like i will wait for next weeks patch which is supposedly more extensive. It says that it changes difficulty problems, which i'm hoping will be quite wide ranging.

CD Projekt are also planning another patch for next week, which will hopefully tackle the difficulty issues encountered by many players. Get the full patch notes below.

Otherwise, i have had ctd's tonight and each time i have to reset all of my settings. also, graphics just don't look that great. Hopefully both patches together might make it more playable

Anyone find it a bit choppy in places? I7 @ 4ghz 5870 6GB

no - it must be GPU rather than CPU limited to some extent

as I'm running it on a 3.3 gig Q6600 ,1900x1200 on a GTX480

everything on max apart from Uber which is off

andIfind the frame rates very consistant-99% of the time 35-50fps- but smooth

I did inone massive battle (with the owl ...) see 28fps - but thats about aslow as its gone

Works for me, went from 40 - 60fps to 60 solid so far apart from big group fights were it takes a second to catch up.

Yep, a bit smoother for me too.

Anyone else notice a massive difference in atmosphere/sky colour when entering different areas? I'm outside Flotsam, and the sky is red and it looks great, then i go inside flotsam and suddenly there is a completely different hue to the sky. It still looks great, but it's completely different. Weird. No biggie though
