The Witcher 2 - Thread

Anyone else getting horrible lighting effects since the 11.5b "hotfix"?

That big white light follows me around, no idea what it is =/

<pictures>

It seems to be in a fixed position

Not great quality, taken with Steam

Yes, I'm getting exactly the same thing after installing the 11.5 hotfix drivers, it's really quite annoying.

On the up side, FPS has increased from 20-30 to 50-60! :D
(That's with everything set to max at 1680x1050, apart from ubersampling which brings it back down to 20-25fps, vsync on - Intel 2600k, ATI 4870x2, 8GB DDR3)

i'm thinking it looks a little better with Cinematic Depth of Field off. What does everyone else think?

Just done the haunted hospital quest. good but a bit hard, i died a few times against more than one opponent because of geralt's inability to hit more than one (for some reason:rolleyes:).
This combat rebalance patch should make it much better

Yep, same here. It appears to be something to do with the lighting. I think pighardia has jinxed me! :p Still perfectly playable though.

Still not right in xfire as well. The performance is definitely better but it's still not using the GPUs fully. Hopefully the new profiles are due tomorrow and will sort it.

i am now thinking that one of the problems i've had is down to somethng my end. As i've said, the key bindings and graphics settins keep resetting themselves, i have noticed that when i quit the game, the launcher is still there and is unresponsive. I wonder if the launcher is crashing for some reason. I have reinstalled the game 3 times and it still happens, so maybe something is clashing with it?

can't find anyone else online complainig of it.

heres an odd one (btw just installed 1.1 patch - mine defaultedback to LOW settings so watch out)

...can someone with a 1900x1200 monitor - and a Nvidia card - try disabling Nvidia scaling in drivers, andthen setting game to 1900x1200

why without scaling is it then so small an image ? its almost as if when you set to 1900 its scaling from the wrong original ?

I set to 1900x1080 - no scaling - and its perfect

Sounds like a file permission issue.

For some reason I can't change anything in the input settings part of the configuration app. I just wanted to set the side buttons on my mouse for the magic and potions keys so I just set up a profile in the mouse's app and it's all good now. There's always around these things. :)

The patch resets all the graphics options.

Edit; getting proper xfire performance now. 90-100fps. Going to try ubersampling now. Still got the blobs of light though.

30-40 fps with ubersampling on and it looks great. Sadly it isn't smooth at all, shame. GPU usage drops too which is odd, see what happens with new profiles.

Light blobs. :(

I get this with GTA EFLC (GTA IV itself does remember my settings, though).

A while back I had some SecuROM issues on my PC with GTA IV/EFLC (I assume a RGSC conflict) and Crysis Warhead (launch error). I removed SecuROM using the removal tool, which got Warhead to work again, though GTA IV/EFLC still don't work unless I click "Play (Offline)" (which isn't really an issue as I don't play it online anyway). I just assumed that because RGSC was still on my PC, it would still be conflicting because SecuROM files are recreated whenever an application using SecuROM is run.

There was a time when everything worked perfectly, though, so I must have done something to affect SecuROM. It could be that you've done something similar. I suggest using the SecuROM removal tool, though there's arguably no point what with the new patch removing SecuROM altogether.

Be aware those who have the Steam version, you need to download 9.4GB in order to get your game patched :/

Apparently due to the way Steam patches things, it overwrites with a newer file version and the game file in this case is 9GB
