The Witcher 2 - Thread

Finished the game, and whilst the graphics/story were all very good I was a bit disappointed at the combat+weapons, seems like you never really got to put the upgraded weapons/armor to any real use, simply progressing to the next chapter would give you equipment of nearly equal value anyway.

And as said before the Dragon fight was far too repetitive and lacking imagination, given the extent of the characters abilities by that point. I also though chapter 3 was rushed, perhaps more time to take on some quests and explore the area, before finally concluding the story.

Is there any indication on when a next patch will drop? Or even if there is one on the pipeline?

Can't find the quote but i remember reading that there is another patch due this week and a line from it said something like "the patch will address issues people are having with difficulty" maybe suggesting that it might be a bit of a combat rebalance and a revamp of the tutorial:)

Just found this on the Witcher website-

So what's next? First we have setup our own team to improve the server structure and repair the above mentioned game registration. A team is also working to finalize our new forum. We will launch these services very soon. For sure, you will be informed as soon as they are ready here.
Then, by the end of next week you can expect some more free stuff available online. Stay tuned, especially for our online conference scheduled for the 2nd of June. Exciting new announcements are coming!

I know this is The Witcher 2 thread but was wondering if I could ask for some help on The Witcher.

Well I am on Chapter 2 the quest A Mysterious Tower, I am trying to get the stone where you have to get it from the Golem but when I activate the 3 pillars it kills me?

The pillars are arrange in a triangle. Don't stand within the triangle when you activate the third pillar.

And do all the stuff that dreigns mentioned;)
I think it actually comes up as a quest anyway(the lightening rod etc) so just carry on and wait for it to crop up in the storyline

Yeah, that too. :p When I posted, I thought he was asking how to beat the golem without dying, not how to do that whole section of the quest. :o

Not really reading this thread as I have only just started on Chapter 2!

Just wanted to say that my favourite quote so far is, "..even a **** coated stick can be a weapon".

Gotta love them Dwarves :D

During US President Barack Obama’s recent visit to Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk presented him an official diplomatic gift including The Witcher 2 and two of the books that inspired the computer game.

“This is an extraordinary acknowledgement of our hard work here at CD Projekt RED. The Witcher 2 is a game we created for players around the world by drawing from various sources including our national heritage. We are truly pleased to promote our culture in this manner. And we aren’t resting on our laurels. We are continuing to improve the game post-release, and will reveal more during our conference on June 2nd,” said Adam Badowski, Game Director.

“The success of Polish games makes us proud. It is one of the reasons Poland is regarded as an innovative, progressive country. The success of The Witcher 2, and its status as a top-selling title, should be made known around the world. That is why the Prime Minister chose it to give to President Obama. We would like to congratulate the entire Polish game industry including the creators of The Witcher 2 and of all the other Polish games appreciated worldwide. We’re looking for the Polish game market to continue growing, and to exceed a billion PLN soon,” stated Pawe³ Graœ, Polish government spokesman.

The Witcher gift set consisted of the English version of The Witcher 2 Collector’s Edition signed by members of the development team, plus the English editions of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, signed by the author.

Politicians endorsing PC gaming? Unheard of! :P Bit puzzled as to why he'd present the president of what is arguably world's most powerful country with a PC game and two fantasy literature books...

I am ashamed to say I can't think of any other Polish Export except for labour and the witcher series. Probably better to give the president a game and some books than a cheap brickey!

They could have made the mini games a little harder, I did the fist fighting really easy and the arm wrestling was too (i think i got beat once), the dice however i prefered in the first witcher game, i like how you can roll the dice but i dont like how its just 1 round and not 3.

I don't like how you can "roll" the dice so they fly out the board and you lose that dice, but if the computer does it, they get the "lost" dice back for their second roll, but you don't.

Oh, I don’t think that happened on my game, I gave up playing dice after the 1st chapter as it was too annoying. It would have been better if they kept the normal numbered dice then these picture/number ones as it took me a while to figure out what hand I had.
