The Witcher 2 - Thread

What I am disappointed is that by end game Igni does become the I-WIN button again. With 8 points of vigor, extremely fast vigor regeneration, and gear centered around improving sign damage Geralt became a walking fireball Gatling gun - sort of made other signs (with the exception of Quen) rather pointless.

I thought that might be the case, so have intentionally avoided putting points in igni at the moment, as I really don't want to make it to easy :)

To give it some due, unlike the 1st game where the final boss was down even before I depleted vigor with igni ring of fire spam, in this one the final bosses take more beating to take down (and some mobs still can take you down in a few hits if you expose your back and aren't trained in swordsmanship/haven't got Quen up). With the case of Draug I actually found Igni rather weak and had to resort to bomb/thrown dagger spam to take the bugger down, so there's that.

Anyone one else been having problems with temperature with this game? Within minutes of loading it the fan on my 260GTX goes nuts and runs at full speed the entire time I'm playing. I'm slightly concerned that it might end up damaging my video card. I'll monitor the temperatures later but usually it's definitely unusual behavior and I've not had this with any other game. I've found a few other users with Nvidia cards reporting similar problems but cooling seems to always get blamed even issues and no-ones come up with an explanation.

I haven't changed the drivers recently and my card isn't overclocked at all.

Apart from that it's a decent game so far although the UI seems rubbish compared to the old one. I'm finding it slightly confusing and it randomly tells me I can't do something without telling me why.

It is the most GPU intensive game I believe even more than Metro or Crysis. In Crysis and Metro mt GTX480 goes to 80C and 68% fan and with The Witcher 2 it goes to 82C and 75% fan.

But if your fans going to 100% then you need to clean your card and maybe put some new thermal paste on it.

Or simply turn the graphics down so it is not as intensive on the card if you are worried about heat so much.

Fair enough, I guess that explains it. To be fair I know that at least one of the fans in my case is on it's way out which can't be helping. Doesn't help I'm running at 1920x1200 so my rig struggles unless I turn most of the fancy effects and AA off. Been considering getting a new card to be honest as I'm not entirely sure that a 260GTX is powerful enough for the resolution on any kind of decent graphical setting.

The sword fighting in this seems a lot harder that the first without the Group attack. I'm finding I spend ages rolling around waiting for an opening to strike. It's a challenge at least though.

For some reason my sound has gone funny and I no longer hear speach..... Anyone have any ideas on a solution?

That happened to me during one cut scene, I just restarted the game. But I assume you have tried that. So I don't have any other ideas, sorry ;)

Anyone had an issue were you are unable to attack using mouse buttons but magic works fine? it becomes an issue when surrounded by a dozen guys kicking your head in while you stand there doing nothing, though a game restart does fix it...

Yep, I have had that, also when the camera/mouse stops working and also had an issue where I couldn't put my sword away when in a town and had the guards hassling me about it.

Each time a restart was the fix for it.

Picked this up today, after installation, the game became unplayable due to some sort of graphics issue. The best way to describe it, the game seems to be completely transparent to look at and only certain features are visible such as eyes etc.

My system exceeds the recommended specs so I don't see it being a hardware issue.

Any ideas guys?

I had this at first. Disable all CCC/nvidia features. Set them all to use application settings
