The Witcher 2 - Thread

I was expecting better than this it maybe my CPU but it's a i7 at 2.66ghz

Maybe if I overclocked it I may get better results but I tried this before and my computer was just retarding maybe if done different it may work

after doing some research on the net i played around with the user.ini file which has the video settings in i did get some better frame rates but that was only on the low settings getting about 60 - 70 fames but then after awhile goes back down to about 30 - 40.

now im getting another problem while playing the game the screen goes black and i the monitor goes in which looks like standby mode but i cannot exit it and i have to restart the computer any ideas ?

your gpu is getting too hot, its starting to artifact by the sounds of it OR it could be a driver issue.

hows your airflow in your case?

why is your i7 only at stock??

my cpu is only at stock as i do not know much about overclocking i have tried in the past only to have my computer restart on me when im in the middle of something i would love to overclock it to about 3.40 or something maybe even 4 ghz i think the motherboard i have doe is not good for over clockking here is the details below if someone could be kind to find some settings to overclock the motherboard 3with the cpu i have that would be great

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard

as for the air flow in my case the card is very and there is a additonal fan in the case my first toughts was maybe it was the power supply as it is only 700w maybe this is why its cutting out.

really looknig forward to playing this but little ythings such as the frame rate spoils the game for me.

stop being a fool and learn how to overclock that i7 you spent your money you should use your stuff to its potential!

Easy Tune 6 from your motherboard manufacturer would be a good start.

Andi.

Steam achievments are not working for me. I only got the game a few days ago but as i understand it, it is the 1.3 patch that is causing this?

absolutely awesome game though :D

i got it to work now i can play the witcher 2 oh high settings it looks greats had to go into nvida control panel and fiddle with a few settings so far really enjoying the game.

Didn't realise how short this game is - currently a good way through Chapter 2. Was expecting another few chapters like the original game, but apparently there is only one more after this?

Yes, the game's major downside. Keep in mind, tho, that Ch. 2 is completely different depending on who you side with at the end of Ch. 1. Location, quests, and story are all different.

Most certainly worth a replay for that, in-fact you'd be cheating yourself otherwise. So, with that, there's pretty much a total of 4 chapters after the prologue.

I prefer Witcher 1 overall, but this is still a great game.

Yeah, but you can't really count chapter 3 as a chapter, it's only about 90 minutes long.

I enjoyed it, but it isn't anything special imo. As i said earlier, i think it badly needed another chapter in between 2 and 3, something with a decent city to explore.

How do you tell how long you've been playing it?

I can't remember there being anything to tell, is it in the save/load screen?

^ first playthrough for me took 22 hours, doing evrything

Was about 10hrs for me. However, the Witcher took me 130hrs total, so I guess I tend to take my sweet time :p That number is what Steam said, but I don't have this on Steam so don't know how long one playthrough takes me...I'd guess a good 75hrs, longer if you count Ch. 2 twice like it should.

I think it stands up well against an equal amount of 'content' from the first game. With the exception of the prologue, which I'd say is vastly superior to the first's, the 3 (/4) chapters would hold against roughly any 3 from the previous game, and would be properly matched against the best, in my opinion.

But then...

As i said earlier, i think it badly needed another chapter in between 2 and 3, something with a decent city to explore.

Agreed, I've thought the very same.

Between the two, I'd give the first (EE) a 9.5/10, while this would be maybe an 8.5. A bit of a letdown in areas (save imports being next to useless and length are my only major gripes), but again, still great for me.

Looking forward to seeing how they handle the third. Since they're moving to include consoles (both, I think?), I seriously doubt they'll make it as large and diverse as the first game, and from experience wouldn't be surprised if it's a dumbed-down load of ****, but we'll see..
