The Witcher 2 - Thread

ive read really mixed views on this games performance. ive only got a modest system, amd x4/4gb ram and a 2gb 6950, will i be looking at reasonable perfomance at 1080?

I nerver really had a problem running it on high with the rig in my signature at 1900x1200.

Definitely worth 11.99, plays much better with a 360 pad than mouse/keyboard imo, combat especially feels more natural/fluid with the pad.

Once I get my PC up and running again, and purchase a new GPU... I plan on starting this from scratch. It's an amazing looking game and completely swallowed me into it's world. Running around dat forest...

Tutorial was nice, but how the hell you're meant to do the arena fight at the end i have no idea, managed to defeat 3 enemies then about 7 came at once! said my reccomended difficulty was "easy"

How dare the game think so little of me, although i have heard the boss fights are still very challenging even on that mode.

Hmm, not certain if the game is actually Steamworks? Maybe someone else could chime in on that. My on-disc version certainly wasn't, however with all normal edition copies you can also put your key in on GOG.com for a free online backup of the Enhanced Edition.

There really is no need to purchase anything but the original release, if you can find it cheaper.

The Eastern Europe/Russian release of the Witcher 2 published by 1C-Company is a Steamworks version, I do not believe it is region locked either.

I played on Normal and some of the bosses took several attempts. One in particular took me a few dozen goes before I finally managed to get past it. The tutorial recommendation is rubbish tbh, you'll improve through playing.

Started this again from scratch because I got my new 7870 and when I went to play it, it downloaded 10GB worth of goodies as I hadn't played it since roughly this time last year! Think I got to about Flotsam roughly, so I wasn't that far in anyway, loving every minute of it :)

I was pretty surprised about how short the second was. It was a really beautiful game with amazing graphics, but there seemed to be less side quests, moral choices and there were very few dungeons/crypts. To me it felt more like an "action" game than an RPG.

The ending and ending music were also not as good:D

Hi guys, just reinstalled this and have started again from scratch. I originally got the start of chapter 2 but I think Skyrim got in the way and haven't looked at it since last November! Anyway, just after some character build advice. Any tips on what to take in the training tree? I'm aiming for mostly swordsmanship, with some magic.

Arrrgggg. Those bloody dwarfs in the mine with me whilst looking for the herb. Why can't I just kill the annoying ******s? Why do they HAVE to be up my arse and in the way all the bloody time?

That's better, now back to the game.
