The Witcher 2 - Thread

Has anyone experimented with in-game AA vs. Driver AA and FXAA? In some circumstances I've found driver forced FXAA to be less efficient than the game's own. This is not in-line with most other games on which I've forced FXAA on.

Perhaps it's the large amount of post processing already involved? Not sure, just something I've noticed.

Playing this at the moment and I absolutely hate it. Any enjoyment I would've gotten from the story has been completely ruined by the inexcusable loading times and the lack of save after going through mountains of dialogue and cut scenes. Cut scene, dialogue, fight, die, load, cut scene, dialogue, fight, die.

Eh? The game loads in about 10 secs and autosaves quite often for me. Is your game patched to latest version?

Aye, SSD makes loads super quick as well but it shouldn't be too bad on HDD either.

As for boss fights being hard, I loved the fact that it was a challenge in all honesty. Victories felt hard-earned!

I have the witcher 2 game installed on drive D, patch downloader wants to patch to drive C. Where do i send the patches and EE when i get round to it? Thanks

Just started playing this after completing Witcher 1 and cannot get into it at all, What have they done to the combat? Its crap! and I thought it was bad enough in the first one :o

Even searching around areas isn't obvious as it was on W1 for loot etc, i liked that little trusty cursor :( Talking to people in Witcher 1 you had an idea of main characters with the green text for names, but in this nothing is obvious

Not to mention is all looks very consoley, i.e the menus, and the random dialogue options in the middle of the screen :S

First few hours into the game. Was going to reinstall and complete the first, but it didn't take me long at all to get absorbed into the second game. Particularly enjoying the cinematics.

Does anyone know why the camera for me is totally ****ed? It's extremely jerky and was the same on my Bulldozer, infact it might of even been better on it?

If you've ever played Dark Souls then it's like it is in that, with the mouse, you'll know what I mean, it feels completely unresponsive and like its going in one direction, no lee-way.

It's a hardware problem most likely but happens even on medium/low settings @ 900p.

^^ Can't say anything springs to mind.

Good game so far, but one thing really bugs me; when you're being questioned and then have to break free of shackles and get into melee combat with the guards, you can't make a save. So, each time I die, I have to go through the whole thing again. I appreciate you can right click to speed things up, but really...please! Would help if I wasn't cocking the fist fight up. :)

I started a new game recently, as I was bored and didn't have anything else to play and I am really enjoying it...I am having the same problem as I have had previously though, that I have just left Flotsam and suddenly can't be bothered to play it anymore!

It is a shame they couldn't put as much resources in to the rest of the game as they did in to Flotsam, which is an incredible environment. As I leave I get the same great feeling that I got when you open up new areas in the first game, unfortunately instead of improving, I ultimately find they pale in comparison to hat came before. Also, I stand by what I said when it was first released, that the whole divergent chapters thing is a gimmick which ultimately hurts the game.

I like some of the new bits(first time playing EE). The cutscene at the beginning is especially cool! Also, I think combat is MILES better as well. tbh though, strangely I found the new tutorial adds confusion if anything!

PS. I have experienced a hell of a lot more bugs than I previously had as well bizarrely. I am pretty sure i did not have any problem when I originally played it.

Oh and that news of possible new content is excellent! the game feels unfinished to me as it is

dunno what quest path your on but I found the game really rich in detail post floatsam especially in Aedirn - ok so chap 3 is a bit short but by then you dont really care.
how can you say the two quest paths are a gimmick? its all about making a choice and you end up in two completely different areas and stories based on who you side with??

That is all fine, maybe I didn't mean gimmick really, but I don't see a reason for the other area to not be open to you, to do sidequests and explore. It would be nice if you could visit both Vergen and the camp(as you do briefly go to the other in both lines) in chapter 2. It would extend the game, give you more to do, make the areas more varied etc.

I didn't find the quest pasts gimmicky, whole point is to force you to make difficult choices and live by them. Final chapter is woeful though, it's like they got told they had to ship the game in one month and got rushed to finish it. Also become far to over powered by the 2nd chapter. Even when playing on hardest difficulty.

Mulitple. Playthroughs.

For this playthrough, I have spent more time in Flotsam than I did for the whole game when I previously played it:eek:...found quite a few bits that I must have missed, or were added(actually I am pretty sure at least one of the quests was bugged on release but has since been fixed). Also I once again got stuck on the Nekker quest:rolleyes:( It is one of those quests for me that everyone has in games that they ALWAYS get stuck on!...I am sure we all have them;))

I really do think the combat is vastly improved since EE. It is much more enjoyable now imo. It will be great when they start releasing the user-created stuff

I really feel like playing the first game now!
