The Witcher 2 - Thread

I recorded some videos with ubersampling on and off. With it on I only had 12-15 FPS in the area, and with it off 55-60.

I saw absolutely no difference at all, there was also a really jagged edge bridge in the part that I tested, and it didnt get any smoother with ubersampling on.

Anybody know if this game has extra storage space?

In the first game the Inn keepers filled this role, but I'm now in Act 1 and I've been to the Inn and there is no option to store my crap! I have too much stuff and it's weighing me down and I don't really want to get rid of most of it since it's mostly item crafting stuff.

Having the same issue, just started Act 2.

Anyone have any idea how the hell mutagens work?

Loving the game, spent most of yesterday having someones or somethings foot up my ass :). Starting to find the best way is to use ardd and spam the fast attack and roll away, got a few nice finishers doing that :p

I know its gonna be another day of pain on this game but i am gonna stick at it ;)

I couldn't even launch the game, for some reason it kept just coming back to the launcher, after googling others found a solution, set desktop to 1920 x 1200 but make sure the gfx options on the game are set to 2560 x 1200, then it starts a that res, weird!

This might have been asked already here, but I couldn't find it.

When I start the game (steam version) the launcher pops up. Click Launch game, wolf head pops up and same wold head in the tray. Stays like this for 15 seconds and goes to launcher again!

The only way to start tha game is to lower the res (my native is 2550x1440) and in window mode. WTF!?

Did you update your drivers? Heard it has problems with some cards.

No problems on my 5850.

What spec of machine and what size of monitor/res are you using? :)

Processor : AMD Phenom II X4 955e @ 3200MHz
Physical Memory : 6144MB (3 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 5850
Monitor Type : Dell Computer DELL ST2410 - 24 inches
Windows Performance Index : 7.3 on 7.9

I didnt change a single setting in for the game apart from putting it straigt to medium. No AA is abit of a bummer though... might put it on and see how it goes.I still think it looks like one of the best pc games ever even on medium settings. Not too sure I can push my pc anymore though. It has dipped to the low 20's but its never got choppy.

One thing I am finding really annoying is not being able to use potions or cancel a potion when there are enemies near by. I used my cat potion for the sewer part and when I got out, I still had 2 minutes left on it but couldn't cancel it. Really annoying.

Loving this game so much right now. It feels like an epic, like Lord of the rings epic. Kinda like the fact its really hard, even on medium. a lot of people are saying its kinda like Demon's Souls in this way. Shame about the AI just bum rushing you into a corner... you stand no chance if you get ganged up on... well, you wouldn't stand much of a chance if you got gang raped in real life either. Hope theres some crowd control moves/spells later on in the game.

I am glad I played a few hours of TW1 before playing TW2. Just shows how different these games are. TW1 is more of an old school game like NWN but I hate to say it, TW2 is seems like its made for consoles. It has all the inner hooks of a console game. If you compare the UI from the first game to this one, its pretty ovbious what they had in mind. Saying that, there is no release date for the console version yet.

Spoiler? Pretty early on.

Not played much yet but my favorite part in the game so far was killing that soldier that was ordering his men to kill all the unarmed villagers. Then I robbed all the vilagers after I saved them. Totally playing a dick in this game. :D

Can we expect a dx11 patch?

Looks fine in DX9. They pushed DX9 to its max. To be honest, if DX9 can look this good, then it just shows how lazy devs have been. Maybe PC tech moves too quickly for devs to really get used it.

Only thing I want to see now is facial animation looking more realistic instead of that weird dead eye stare, it just looks unnatural. Every game should have the tech LA Noire has for facial animation.

You were never able to turn potions off, all part of the charm of using mutagens :) You can cancel the effects of potions by taking another potion but this will increase your poison levels. If anything like the 1st game :D

You can turn them off in TW2 by meditating... but its difficult to tell where you can do this in game. It seems no where is safe to do it.

Not sure if it has been fixed with new gfx drivers but how I got it working was to lower my desktop res to 1080p and keep the game res at 2560.

Do you have to meditate to use a potion or is that just an option? Found it frustratign wlaking around trying to find a place where it would let me do it.

And how do you use these mutagens?

Installed and played a bit of this last night, the graphics are amazing and its even pretty hard on normal but i guess it will get easier when i level up.

Anyone else see the Assassins creed Easter egg on the ballista level (at the beginning when trying to take the castle) :D
