The Witcher 2 - Thread

Even though i am not planning to play it yet, i have just installed it. Had to neter activation key a few times, but got it in the end.

The problem that i am having is with the Ultimate swordsman suit i got with Amazon pre-order.
These are the instructions-

When i launch the game, there is no Activation tab, so i go to the DLC tab, which is just a blank screen with a "preorder code redemption" box in it, so i enter the code and it says "invalid activation key"

Also, how do you get that Troll Trouble thing?

cheers

you entering the code or cutting and pasting from the email? I did the latter and it worked fine.

yeah i'm running as admin, and cutting and pasting the code

Strange. I did just what you did.

Ran the launcher as admin, chose the Downloadable Content option, then copied and pasted the key from my Swordsman Suit email into the "Pre-Order Key" box. Activated just fine.

Troll Trouble also showed up on the left-hand side of that DLC window as downloadable. You click it, then click "DOWNLOAD", which appears underneath the "Pre-Order Key" box.

Might be a server problem, as when i load up the launcher there is a little message at the bottom saying "connection error try again later", it is only there for a few seconds, but then the message goes and in the top left, it says online.

I will try again later and see if it still happens

also, does anyone else have the problem where you click on "registered users" and it takes you to the Witcher 2 page, but there is nothing you can do there? the login and register buttons do not work. I think that this just means that the server is down.

Does your level and xp from the first game have any impact on the game?

I am playing it atm and want to know if it is worth doing all of the contracts to get the extra xp? What exactly carries over?

In Mass Effect, there was an incentive to get to as high a level as possible, as it meant you got more in the second game, is this the same?

Anyone else finding combat really difficult?

While I'm no gaming master, I'm certainly not an idiot when it comes to these things. I'm finding combat really hard, especially against 2+ mobs at a time.

I got through the first part of the game and invested in some bombs, traps etc. I came to the cave with the Nekters and was getting absolutely destroyed. I turned it to Easy and I still find myself bouncing off the mobs while they overwhelm me.

I've tried trap laying, cycling through Signs, throwing bombs and blocking etc. But the combat seems so clunky and skittish that its hard to control. To get past those Nekters I had to one by one pull them from the group and run/roll back to the invisible line in the cave where they didn't follow me.

Other than the combat, I think the game is awesome. Either I'm doing something wrong or the combat needs fixing. I never had this problem in W1.

Has anyone who has the Collector's edition been able to redeem the Roche Commando Jacket? My code keeps getting rejected and I have typed it in using many variations in case it was missprinted and I have run the launcher as admin.

Thanks

Once you level up and advance in the skill tree, combat becomes a breeze against normal enemies. The nekkers used to rip me apart, now I can kill them in seconds.
