The Witcher 2 - Thread

The game is running gorgeos at the moment on my ati 6950 BUT I seem to be having one random issue. Every now and again the game just completely shuts down to the desktop, and it's always random when it does it. Ive disable supersampling, everything else is set to ultra and im getting over 40fps. I've got the latest 11.5a ati drivers but still seems to be doing it?

Any suggestions?

Happened to me yesterday!

Just finished my first playthrough on normal.

Act wise 1 & 2 are similar length, 2 might be a little bit longer imo, 3rd act is much shorter than both other.

Spent my talent points mostly in swords and then magic after filling it up.

LOL they gave The Witcher 60% and then DA2 better score than part 2....always knew PC Gamer was crap.

How the hell can part 1 get 60%?!?!

I read some of the comments on the PC gamer review, and the guy who wrote the review was right in saying this-
I didn't review Dragon Age 2, and wouldn't have given it 94%, but that's by the by. The score was based on the game in front of me, not relative to others. Epic fail? Maybe, but please decide based on the arguments, not the number on the end.
The Dragon Age 2 review was ridiculous, but to this review looks pretty balanced tbh. People sometimes forget that it might be a PC gamer review, but it is reviewed by a different person to DA2

How Do you rate it?, impressed?

I really enjoyed it, will probably play through it again as some of the decisions took a lot of deliberating. Also betting I missed a bunch of secrets.

Difficulty wise I felt normal was alright, it ranges - starts out pretty challenging until somewhere in act 2 and then its only really specific fights that give you any grief, some bosses can still be tricky though.

Will try magic next play through though, swords is proc based which I'm not a fan of.

Maybe, but he works for a company and that review is sold under that company name!. Pick up a mag what does it say " PCGAMER REVIEWS THE WITCHER 2, FIRST LOOK "

It doesn't ever say " TOM OUR REVIEWER HAS JUST REVIEWED THE WITCHER 2 "

Personally I just think he's defending his street cred and backtracking :o

Talking about TW2, right?

How long did it take you?!? The game just came out on tueday. :/ I've only played 9 hours of it.

yeah i'm not trying to defend them or anything, but i think that reading it subjectively, it seems like a pretty decent review overall.
I think he says that he would have given DA2 a mid 80's score as well (still high imo:p)

You forget that the 1st had painfully long loading times and was riddled bu bugs on release.

I don't see the big deal with all these review comments - enjoy the game yourself and don't worry about what others say? To be honest most of the user scores on metacritic are 10 anyway, so if anything I would say they are strongly biased.

I do find it funny how so many people either give a 0 or a 10 for a lot of games on there

On release it was pretty cack and still can be considered a fairly bog-standard game by some. The voice acting is still awful, the fighting a little dull, embarassing 'gotta-collect-them-all' sex cards (I mean, okay if you're 13 and short of inspiration) and many dull back-and-forth quests with long loading times.

The Enhanced Edition redeemed some of it, though.
