The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I preferred the wireless version, but yes, the controller itself is excellent for PC gaming.

Currently using an Xbox One controller now, so I've had to get used to the wire.

I strongly recommend you buy thumb covers for the sticks.

Mine only cost 99p from EBay for four, and fit perfectly on both my Xbox and PS4 controllers, and are much more comfortable to play with.

980Ti is fine for max details at 1080p. 970 is fine too with foliage distance lowered to high and hairworks disabled.

Yep, with my 780 Ti (bit faster than a 970) and those two options, W3 runs at a solid 60FPS @ 1080P.

Oh for F sake. Witcher 3 has the best written, most natural sounding dialogue since...forever ? Only few games in history were written at similarly high quality - Planescape Torment, Vampire Bloodlines, Fallout New Vegas, Witcher 2. Skipping it just does complete disservice to the game. I understand people liking different things, but reading this still makes me just sad.

Absolutely agree. Some amazing writing, and the graphics to match it.

Funny how two best games of the year are Polish, huh ?

Dunno, is it? Games could originate from Timbukto for all I care if they're this good! :D Long may it continue!

I agree, for me best games this year are Witcher 3, followed by GTA V and Dying Light. Can't wait for expansions to all three.
And I am going through the same thing. Finished TW3 almost two months ago, but have no desire to play anything else. Tried out Dragon Age 3, which I had to uninstall after two hours, couldn't take the generic..everything.

Yeh, I was quite into DA3 before W3. Now...it's just so...empty.

So I am reading Sapkowski's Hussite trilogy books now instead :D

I love the witcher franchise, books and games but i have to be honest here, this game is starting to drag towards what i hope is nearing the end? Kind of feels really padded out, too much so!

Tried to play a few times over the past few days and sort of get 10 minutes further, sigh to myself (lol), and quit :(

I loved the game up until recently, not saying its bad just that its over staying its welcome at this point, for me

Which part you at?

I got a bit like that after the battle, but looking back I should just have enjoyed the story
.

yea after that bit is when i started to feel like this :D

just feels like im going from place to place just to make it longer, i dunno i am sure that was not there intention. i stopped doing side stuff ages ago.

I just installed the mod for the wolf armour, removes the level restrictions. Think there are mods for all the level restrictions on witcher armour and crafted items.

The side quests are very badly levelled so after the battle there is very little to do other than the main story. Far too many low level quests and not enough high ones. The entire second act basically sends you around the world, but you have already done most of the side quests that are part of the story because they are much lower level. Brothers In Arms is the worst example of this, as I had already done all of the quests needed to get all of the characters to do what I wanted so it just became a tedious process of fast travelling to each location and talking to someone.

I must disagree that the is not enough main story though, that is ridiculous!

What I think they mean by not enough story is that there isn't enough quality. i.e. meat between the sticks.

When you compare it to TW2 it certainly feels like that is the case. In TW3 you spend most of your time traversing open landscape and your choices feel meaningless. TW2 immersed me in the story and I felt like I had my own personalised story, which resulted in numerous playthroughs. TW3 immersed me in the world and I just felt like I was along for the ride, which consquently has lead me not to finish it (story) despie my playtimes between the two games being similar (90 hours).

Finally killed the griffin tonight after a couple of attempts. A short while later, when I'm getting question before meeting the King, I was left wondering if I was missing out having not played the previous two in the series as the questions seem to relate to previous events I had no idea about.

I had same problem,I got killed too easily so I ended up shooting igni to burn it & then running back into the woods to refill my health & then repeating it until it was dead , Griffin only follows a certain distance so you can recuperate :p

Where's the best place to buy this now? Won't be really playing it until 11th, so can wait if necessary :)

GOG Is the best I think since it's the only option that allows you to rollback if a patch messes something up, plus each DLC file is separate as well.

Sure no Steam integration, but I prefer being able to not have downloads forced on me, and not being able to go back if something happens, and with patch 1.07 is straight up broke the game for many people.

This game is annoying me, I started a brand new save the other day running on the latest 1.07 patch from the beginning and I am finding the same quest related bugs as before.

The Byway Murders Contract:

I approach the notice board, the quest gets added. I then speak to the commander who goes on to say that a monster has been killing his men. I then need to investigate the area of where the murders have been taking place, upon entering the village I am greeted by several ghouls which are way higher in level then me anyway, but as soon as discovering the location I check the quest log and it says it failed on the "Talk to the commander" stage, despite already doing that and it previously showing as a green tick.

As with my previous save a month ago, a few people on other websites thought it may do this if discovering the location before taking on the quest. Luckily I had a backup save right after White Orchard and the palace, so to test I reverted to that save and headed straight for the notice board to attempt to take the quest on whilst avoiding the quest area. Needless to say it still fails at the same point.

There also remains a bug on one of the early main quests:

The Nilfgaardian Connection one where you go to the Inn at the crossroads. As the quest progresses and you discover Hendrick's body a failed entry in the quest log appears for "Defeat the Baron's men", regardless of how you dealt with the situation at the Inn be it peaceful or not as soon as you approach Hendrick's body you get that fail in the log.

It's quite annoying as I do have OCD tendencies when it comes to looking at red fail marks in my journal, it's especially annoying when I know I didn't fail in those particular circumstances.

I gave this game a month off because of the bugs, the latest patch sounded worthwhile me returning to it but alas the bugs are still present

Have managed to sort my main issue of my armour not being equipped - went a few saves back. Think I am going to start focussing on the main quest more or I am never going to finish this game!

I really need to give this game time. I patched it up yesterday. This shouldn't be a difference because I have only really played an hour or two.

I just can't get along with its system. I find it overly complicated. Guess it just needs a bit time.

Oh well looks like Patch 1.08 notes does not correct the bugs I touched on in my last post :o

Stick with it and you will get used to it. Sure some things could be done better with the inventory layout etc but you do get used to it :)

Just had a look at my quest log and I see that particular part marked as failed. The overall quest has a tick though so that's all I care about, glad things like this don't bother me.

I wish I could live with it :)

In the grand scheme of things it is a very minor issue but having said that, little things like that drive me mad. Although I have never had an official examination or anything I believe I do have OCD, even if it is not as extreme as lot of people have these niggly things seem to bother me. I think also been a perfectionist doesn't help, I suppose perfectionist and OCD are kind of the same thing in a way :p
