The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Arghhhh, I'm level 17 and one of the main quests is level 13!!! I still have about 10 side quests I can do within level range as well...

Game is very badly broken if you like to do all the things.

Yep, you really can't do to many side quests unless you use a mod to slow XP like somebody mentioned. It's a shame because unlike most games the side quests in this are great.

XP system is definitely not balanced well at all.

Hurts the loot progression as well. You get(or craft) a new fancy weapon and it's obsolete in like 30 minutes.

Probably my biggest complaint with the game.

This really sucks. You would have thought when completing a mission or side quest, where the reward was a sword or armour, it would be of some use. But that is not the case in this game. I have yet to find a weapon or piece of armour that is really outstanding. You pick up gear or manuscripts for items that are maybe 20 levels above your current standing. By the time you are able to use them, they are useless. Most of what I use is levels way below my game level.
You also need to use weapons and armour that best suit your character build.
My builds are based on maxing out my sign tree, with strength and speed maxed out and some selected potion points thrown in for good measure.
The vast majority of stuff you obtain from crafting and alchemy, I never use.

Yeah, that's why I've been saying that the game is a fundamentally flawed experience (and rather overhyped), at least as an RPG. I went back to it after a couple of months and just play it for the story and roaming around. Everything I collect is utterly useless and I've already outlevelled the main quest by quite a margin.

Still, one of the better games this year, just doesn't play or look as good as some hardcore fans claim IMO and is a bit clunky at times.

Witcher 3 now won both Golden Joysticks (voted by millions of gamers) and The Game Awards (voted by gaming critics) GOTY awards.

Congratulations CDP, very much deserved.

Not a surprise, the game is fantastic, When you see the tosh the likes of Bethesda are churning out, there is no competition.

Just started this after not bothering with Just Cause 3. Few hours in now. Is it wise to pay to dismantle even fairly basic items? Also, should you craft things or more rely on pickups?

Crafting Witcher gear is the way to go, you can buy maps from merchants to find the Crafting Diagrams

Its a shame but it didn't really bother me, I generally just crafted the witcher gear and ignored everything else. I can see why its disappointing for some in this type of game but I was happy to just get on with things and not worry massively about gear.

Back to the subject of side quests, as I'm playing Fallout 4 it makes me appreciate just how great the side quests are in Witcher 3, I could quite happily ignore most of the side quests in FO4, there is so little to them, whereas in Witcher 3 they were generally as detailed as most of the main quests.

I am 105 hours into FO4 and it is dreadful when it comes to writing and quest design. Just dreadful. Not just a huge step down from Witcher 3 (it is in another stratosphere, frankly), but also from New Vegas and even Fallout 3. Bethesda just focused on completely wrong things.

Try telling the fan boys that. They are seriously easy to please. :p

Never came across this and I just arrived at Skellige after completing the mains of Novagrad and a lot of side quests and I arrived only a level up from the suggestion.
I am playing on easy though so not sure if that makes a difference.

I am a Fallout fanboy too :)
Fallout 2 was my favourite game of all time for 17 years, until Witcher 3.
Unfortunately Bethesda does not have very good writers and designers. They have great worldbuilders though. I still enjoy FO4, but the missed potential is a shame.

This is a great game but there are some really irritating things about it, the unskippable animated cutscenes when loading for one. I've watched the Uma one about 25 times now, why not just let me skip it :(
